I think this is my first thread. I have just under a year to go until my wedding and I’m a big DIY’er. Our vendors are booked, I ordered my dress and we’re looking at Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses now.
I’m looking for some DIY ideas to keep me busy! I have been scouring the DIY board (which is awesome!) but I’m wondering if you guys can tell me your favorite DIY projects so far and anything that maybe isn’t on the board but you thought of or your Guests loved.
I have to assemble my Invitations, but I’m waiting on something in the mail for them. Also, I have to assemble my Centerpieces, but I’m waiting on some vases for those, as well.
So far, I’ve done Mr. & Mrs. Wooden Signs, Cry Packs (I just need to stuff them with tissues) and my Ceremony Program (just need to fill in some blanks).
I’m still working out a favor idea, leaning towards edible or drinkable 😉 favors, but still pricing them out. I dont’ know if I want to do the Candy Bar just yet, but that’ll be a big DIY project if I decide to, for sure.

we are doing as much DIY as we can. I love it! our next project we are working on is the Ribbon Wands for after the ceremony. I’m excited about those!

You could try your hand at some fake flower pomanders to decorate your ceremony space–I’ve made a couple of those, and that’s definitely fun. I also decorated some wooden letters in our initials to put at our cake table, and I’ve been working on a DIY cake topper!
We’re almost in the same boat as far as how much time we have left (I’ve already done a mock-up of invitations and ceremony programs and have made our Mr. and Mrs. chair signs)–having less than a year to go makes things super exciting! 😀 Yay!

@RockStar33: Oooh Ribbon wands! Be sure to post how they come out!
@Vintage Garden Bride: Yes, SO EXCITING to be under a year!! I thought I’d never get here, lol. I will try some of those Pomanders. I think I’m going to tackle Save the Dates next. Unfortunately, we haven’t taken E-Pics yet, but hopefully, I can get that lined up soon.
I love your theme, too! Vintage Garden! 🙂

It’s hard to know what to suggest when we don’t know your colors, theme or venue.
Why don’t you take a look at this post for some inspiration?
Show me the best DIY you have ever seen

@julies1949: Good point! I’m doing sort of a vintage Love Bird Theme. So, think bird accents on vintage items, not two birds kissing in a tree.
Colors are emerald green, white and natural brown. I’ll be using lighter shades of green for accents, too.

I am doing a lot of DIY projects as well! I think my favorite one is the one my fiance is currently doing the art for (he’s a graphic designer which is extremely helpful with art related stuff). Anyway, we are putting together a personalized activity book for each of the kids who will be at the wedding. It’s going to be around 14 pages long and has cartoon versions of my fiance and me sprinkled throughout it and has a wedding theme going on throughout the book too. We made a wedding themed crossword puzzle, maze, decoder (the symbols for the letters are representative of things we like as a couple), word match game, and a number of other little games. We also have coloring pages of us as a married couple, our two cats, an image of a postcard where the kids can write (or draw) us a message for our honeymoon, and an undecorated cake with instructions for the kids to add decorations of their choice. Anyway, I’m super excited about this project and think it will be really cute and (hopefully) fun for the kids at the wedding! 🙂
