Well dear Bees. I was very remiss in not doing a recap but today is such a precious first anniversary that I’d like to share some memories of our perfect day, last 24 May.
With a husband recently diagnosed with Stage IV cancer, we decided to take each day at a time but for sure, at the back of our minds was the knowledge that our marriage might be rather shorter than we could hope for. This didn’t stop us having the most wonderful wedding surrounded by all the people we love the most. We married in a civil ceremony at our lovely, Victorian, Town Hall which was the perfect setting for my steampunk inspired outfit. After a family ceremony, we adjourned for a long, long, lunch followed by afternoon tea and in the evening we hosted an informal celebration for friends. To which at least 200 people came!
We woke up on the 24th May to the expected change in the weather. From warm and sunny the day before and the day after, we got an Atlantic front which brought rain. Did we care? Well no! Rather ironically, the weather today is pretty much identical too!
Walking in on the arm of my youngest son with my darling eldest granddaughter who was my bridesmaid:
That “Just Married!” moment…
I’m having trouble loading pictures so will continue on a new post….

Umbrellas are a great accessory for wedding pictures!
My beautiful granddaughter ( then aged 2 and a half) just loved being a bridesmaid

I love this shot of us having a quiet moment of contentment over lunch:
We took a teatime break at a family home nearby where we got silly with balloons!

And then onto our evening reception where loads of cake was eaten and lots of fun was had!
And we finished off our wonderful day with flares and fireworks!
Thanks for your kind comments too. We’ve had a rather challenging year and unfortunately, my DH is not out of the woods yet. However things are nowhere near as dire as they might have been and although his remission has only been a temporary blessing, we’ll carry on taking things one poitive step at a time.
