I was going to order mine from here: http://www.african-weddings.com/inc/sdetail/14421?noc=true
We weren't going to make a ceremony out of it, just do it at the end after the offical pronouncement!
I'm not AA but I would love to incorporate this into our ceremony.
If we do, I think we'll probably use something like this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/58868288/natural-colored-ceremonial-broom-witches?ref=pr_shop.
My mom made the broom for my sister's wedding. If I am not mistaken, she got all of the materials from The Dollar Tree.

@JamaicaBride:That is beautiful!! The flower arrangement is gorgeous too. I'm certainly going to be on the lookout for lots of things at the dollar tree.
Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby have been key for all of my DIY projects!! Thanks for the inspiration, I'll be making my own broom!
Here's my DIY broom. I may add some flowers or feathers, or I may not. I like it as is for now, so that's how it will stay for now. FI will cut down the top some so it's more even and a little angular. I would do it, but I'm afraid it will be lopsidied!
I looked around online and saw some beautiful brooms, but for $60-80/broom I just couldnt bear buying one. I've created the same effect for around $20. After the wedding I plan to place it in a shadow box and hang it on our wall somewhere.
Oooh thanks for the idea!! We are going to buy one and decorate it ourself. Lovely ideas!!!
Love your DIY Broom! I"m going to do the same! I'm a buyer for a living and can't imagine paying more than $20 for a broom:-)
Here is our broom. It was $2 at Michaels and we used the flowers and ribbon from other projects. I'm excited! The flowers and ribbon are purple.. it looks blue in the pic.

These brooms are beautiful!!! I wouldl ove to do this, but since I'm getting married away, I have to worry about getting all my items there myself
Beautiful brooms Divas!! To amen Katieebees post..I too am VERY inspired!!
I design brooms I have a few on my Etsy shop, I'll be woking on mine this week so I'll be back with citures. but i'm thinking of a flower arrangment thet matches my bridesmaids bouquest
Here are a few of my designs I sell, my shop is http://www.etsy.com/shop/AKZMeDesigns

This is so exciting. I think I'm going to try to DIY my own wedding broom and if at all fails, at least I have some ideas of where to shop. Thanks!
Here is my broom. I got it from Stewarts Creations. My fiance and I will jump the broom after our pastor pronounces us man and wife.

These brooms are lovely! I think I'm ging to try it as a Do It Yourself project. So, the dollar store makes sense for the flowers- but where are you all buying the actual broom?
@Keisha In Love: I bought my broom at Pat Catan's craft store. It only cost $1.47!
Thanks 2nd time... we don't have that store where I am but I have been looking around!
@Keisha In Love: I got my broom from Bealls Outlet, but I have also seen them in the home decor section at TJ Maxx, and Hobby lobby.
I had to google this.... and I discovered it's also of Celtic, Welsh, and Gypsy origins!!!
GORGEOUS brooms, btw!!! My mother had a little tiny whisk broom that was decorated and these remind me of it!!!
I got my broom a couple weekends ago from a local shaker broom maker. This is his website:

I'll be sure to post a picture soon, but it's beautiful and simple.
@lss2011: thanks for the tips... I looked at TJ Max with no luck - gonna try Hobby Lobby when i can get out to the burbs...
these are beautiful... i am having a hard time finding a broom also! thanks ladies for the inspration! my wedding is 9 mths away and i am most excited about the broom! think ill get started on that this weekend!
Whoops! Sorry to respond so late... just now saw this. These are beautiful!
I posted some of my favorite inspirations here, and here's ours (I'll be writing recaps relatively soon). My husband got it from broomsbychris.com, and our florist decorated it:

These are great... Thanks because I know this is on my list of things to do
@cameronwedding: hobby lobby has a sale on all thier brooms rooms!!!!!! i just got one for 10 bucks!!!!
I bought my broom from Amazon for like $15, it's really cute.
When my good friend got married, she asked that her friends come over to help her decorate her broom. Knowing what her colors were, I brought over a scarf that I had bought when we were both students in Morocco, because it was such a special time in our lives and was how we became friends. I can't recall if everyone was asked to bring something to help decorate it, but I've always loved wedding brooms and felt like I was included in their special day!

Hey girls, did you/do you plan to have the Jump the Broom ceremony performed at your wedding?
Can I see your broom pictures from your wedding or your inspirations? I don't think I'll decorate mine too much. Just a flower and some ribbon to match our colors. I'm not sure. What about you ladies?
