I had a diamond set and  rongs repaired and it cost 120. I’d suggest that you make sure you have insurance before you give the diamond to a jeweler, pick the lowest that isn’t the new place! Although, thinking to my experience, I think I was quoted 50 to set it and the rest was the repair job? It isn’t very labour intensive to set a diamond so maybe 40$ is a fair price. If the new place a a few good reviews, it might be worth it!

I was quoted around 100$ for my reset although my jeweler didnt actually charge anything when I purchased the setting through him. Can any of the places do the reset in front of you? I prefer when you can watch it being done although maybe Im a little spoiled by that.

At Kay Jewelers it is $35.99 to have a 1ct stone set. Hope that helps give you a fair idea. Private, family owned jewelers will be a little more than a large chain, but it can be nicer to get to know the jeweler that is working on your stone. Make sure that the diamond is insured before you do anything.

Without any additional prong work, I’ve had stones set for around $30 by private jewelers. Takes a few minutes.

For the main centre stone, most jewellers have told us around $250

I just had a cushion moissanite set in my existing princess e-ring setting for $160. The jeweler had to alter the prongs to hold the cushion, but he didn’t have to replace the entire head, which I was told would cost upwards of $250. It took 5 business days.

I’ve had several set and paid between $30-$130, depends on the jeweler.  Some like to tell you they need to do all this extra work and replate the setting or building up the prongs… if the stone and setting are the same size (5mm stone and 5mm setting) and they don’t need to do anything to adjust the setting it should be pretty unexpensive – but that still depends on the jeweler…
