I woke up this morning and saw that my DH wrote a twitter update that says "was attacked..." He works at an animal shelter. I keep hoping he's joking but he's not answering his phone. He wrote this about an hour ago. He's been bit before, but never full out attacked. Now I'm really worried. I'm about to call the shelter but they aren't open yet so I don't think anyone would answer. I hope I'm freaking out for nothing. I mean, if he was ok enough to write a twitter update it shouldn't be that bad right?? I keep hoping he is kidding and means he was attacked by puppy kisses or something, but since he isn't answering his phone or replying to texts I have serious doubts. He always answers :( This sucks :(

yeah, I'm angry about that. Not the way I want to find out... But right now I'm more worried than angry. Tried calling the shelter, but as I suspected, no answer.

Worrying is never fun :( Sending positive thoughts your way that he's okay! At least you know if he was able to update Twitter it couldn't be too too serious.

@kitzy: I'd have to agree with you!

you could try calling the hospital nearest to the shelter - if he needed any kind of medical attention (even a quick "look"), they might have quicker info than waiting for the shelter to open

so sorry - keeping my fingers crossed for you

I'm hoping he's taking care of the sick puppies right now and that's why he can't answer or respond to texts or anything because then his phone would be contaminated. I'm so mad and worried all at the same time. Why twitter???

@JoesWifey:  1) I hope he is ok and 2) he has to be told twitter rules. He cant post something like that and not expect a freak out...geeez.

If he chose to twitter it instead of notifying you, I can't believe it could be THAT bad.  I mean, who would twitter news of an accident or something like that instead of calling or texting their wife, you know?

Well the problem with him is he tries to be tough. He probably would try to brush it off and honestly not think it's a big deal and thus write about it on twitter (which he updates on his phone via text. it's not like he had to go to a computer, log in, etc- not that it makes it better). He may have meant it as a joke, but sometimes he has bad judgement about what's funny and what isn't. I'm hoping that's the case and it really isn't bad, but I still haven't heard a word from him which is what makes me worry. He always answers his phone, and if he can't he usually calls right back. I know mornings (especially Mondays) are usually busiest for him and I'm really just holding out hope that that's the case now, but it's getting hard to hold back tears. I haven't called the hospital yet because knowing him he wouldn't go anyway.

oh, and by not letting me know, he probably thought he was doing me a favor. He probably thought I was asleep (I was at first) and didn't want to wake me. I definitelyw ould have preferred him waking me up, but guys don't think the same way as women. But I mean, he must have known I'd see the twitter eventually and get worried. so I don't know what his problem is.

Oh no, I hope everything is okay!!! Guys need to know that women assume the worst and it totally freaks us out! But logically, if he twittered about it, he's probably okay! Deep breath

Oh, thinking good thoughts for him.  Fingers crossed he's totally ok.  Let us know!

ejs4y8 is right, though - if he was able to twitter about it, he can't be that badly hurt, right?

I am going to KILL him. UGH! How can guys have such bad judgement?? Seriously? Or is it just my DH that's such a numbskull?? It was an effing WATER BUG! And he STILL didn't call me or text me. He just replied to his facebook status (which is his twitter update because the two are linked).

and he said his phone never rang.... i dont know how many times I called, but it was probably close to every 10 minutes over the course of an hour. UGH.

@bells: and I would also think he had enough common sense to not joke about that, especially considering his line of work (and his work people can see it as well), but apparently I was wrong about that too.

maybe you need to post something cryptic in like a month about you getting attacked and then not pick up his phone calls see how much he likes it!

    @JoesWifey:

Hahahahahaha!!!!  A water bug?  That's too funny.  I'm glad he's ok, and I think he'll need to watch out for a REAL attack when he gets home!

@elliestan: for real! I won't do that though because I'm a sane person and I know a lot of people besides him would worry.

And he says "don't you think I would have called 911 if it were serious?" NO! He has yet to prove to me that he knows how to take care of himself in that department. He had an infected cat bite twice and the first time his boss had to urge him to take care of it (and by urge, she litterally squeezed the puss out to drain it) and the 2nd time (different boss) they put him on antibiotics right away but he still ended up needing to go to the ER and he kept saying "I'm not going to stay the night" though he did have to. He also started getting hives from the medication but never called the doctor or pharmacy about it. And then he was in a bike tour and he fell because the road was wet and he got a huge nasty case of road burn and he just got back on his bike and kept going even though he was dripping blood and there was gravel stuck in it and stuff. His latest dog bite I had to keep telling him to put antibiotic cream on it because it was red and sore and he fought me on that too. So yes, there's a long history of why I wouldn't trust him to be reasonable about his injuries.
