Ugh. I’d be so ticked. Unfortunately, all you can do is take a deep breath. Getting upset isn’t going to change anything. So chill out and sit tight until you hear from them. Hope they get DD home in a timely manner!

@figgnewton:  I totally agree. When I’ve allowed DS to travel with my parents in the past, I’ve always had the “call me every day” rule. As a parent, you just want to know that your kid is okay. It’s not too much to ask.

@figgnewton:  if they’re not there by 4pm, i would call the cops (not 911 but the non-emergency line). just explain to the cops that you haven’t been able to get a hold of them for 2 days and they were supposed to be home today. they should be able to do something (like send out a be on the lookout type thing). obviously, it wouldn’t be an amber alert because your parents have permission to have your daughter.

@figgnewton:  BOO! this same crap JUST happened to me. My parents have had my son since TUESDAY. They are camping at a really fun resort about 5 hours away so I know that he’s having a blast. BUT, they were supposed to be home today around 3. I was going to get him after work. Well, my mom called me at 10 (the time they were supposed to leave) and said that they were going to stay an extra day? SERIOUSLY!?? I just want my damn kid back already.

I would be losing my freaking MIND! Not being able to get ahold of someone like that sends my brain into overdrive. And for two days?!!?!?!? I would be in the car on my way to where ever they said they are going. And I don’t know what wedding blow up you’re talking about, but whoever the friend is they are staying at needs to put their BS feelings aside when YOUR kid is involved. Please let us know what happens!

@figgnewton:  Holy sh*t, I would be freaking out. I would call, leave a voicemail saying that if I didn’t hear from them in the next 15 minutes DH and I would be contacting the police. Then I’d contact the police if they didn’t call and have them do a welfare check on the location that DD is supposed to be staying. How old is your kiddo??

Oh heck no…. I would be pissed! There would be no way, for one, they’d ever take my kid again.. And, they should call you everyday. That is BS! How do you know if everything is okay or something happened. Honestly, as a parent, if I called for 2 days straight now with no answer, and they were supposed to be home by now and aren’t, I would call the cops. Police will go to the home they are supposed to be at and check on them. And, if they don’t answer or aren’t there, they will search. They may also call their phones. Maybe if they see police calling, someone will grow some sense and finally answer! I would honestly be calling the cops at this point. Two days without hearing a word, or getting a call back, and that was my child! Heck no! That is not okay with me.

@figgnewton:  Aw 🙁 That is totally unreasonable. As a mom, I’m sure your mind is going to all kinds of crazy situations. Totally unfair to make you worry needlessly. They could at least text you!
