I dyed my hair dark brown a couple years ago, and have been trying to get it back to it’s natural colour (kinda a dark dirty blonde) since September. My regular stylist ALWAYS dyes it too dark (like…black)…she seems to think that’s my natural colour. I went to a hair school to switch up stylists and they dyed it lighter (a couple shades darker than what my natural was).
I know my hair probably changed colour slightly, but why can’t anyone make up their mind what my proper colour is? I’m just curious…should this be a one or two time thing where I can get pretty close to my natural colour, or is it really this difficult to return to it? I’m so frustrated. I don’t want to dye my hair anymore!

You just need to find an awesome colorist. Take lots of pics with you of you before dying your hair and the right colorist will fix it for you.

What you need to have done is the have the color “Backed out” at a professional salon with a stylist you trust. I have been dying my hair “Blue Black” for 7 years and just decided I wanted to go back to my natural brown. I thought about it for a while and decided to finally take the plunge. $300 and 3 hours later I have my natural brown with a some caramel highlights which I love! I will be thinking a lot before dying my hair so dark again, its like a lifelong commitment lol.

Find a reputable colorist and take a photo of you with the hair color you want pre-dying or a photo of you when you were a kid.
