What are you doing above the dance floor for decor?

I was thinking of either lanterns or DIYing the tissue paper balls. Anyone else doing/ did something different?

I like the tissue paper balls!  You could also do swagging as well, depending on what your venue can do.  I couldn't find a great pic of it...but something like this...

Our venue had chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, so no ceiling decorations for us.  The DJ had some moving lights set up, and that to me was enough to distinguish our dance floor from the rest of the room.

Personally, I think the "starry night" effect is perfect for a dance floor - makes the first dance more romantic.  :)

Lights across the top of the dance floor is always nice.

How about just doing some pillars to outline the dance floor? Or you could just drape some fabric thru a ring hanging from the cieling in the four corners. Thats alot cheaper than draping the whole ceiling. Make sure the fabric hangs longer on the floor so it looks pretty and elegant.

Or you could buy some pillars from  www.shopwildthings.com I love this place and the quailty and service is great.

I've also done wood vases covered in fabric (hand made, way cheap to make with lumber at home depot) Then used Bamboo in the vases with lanterns hanging from the bamboo.

Good luck and don't forget to share what you've decided on.

Yes!  I meant exactly what gotitang said above...you don't have to drape the whole ceiling, just hang a ring and drape from that.  Ii just couldn't find a photo of what my mind was doing.  :-)  Definitely let us know what you decide on!

We're doing paper lanterns & twinkle lights. I would have loved to put up some chandeliers but there isn't anywhere to hang them from :)
