I think you can't go wrong with either dress, they are both beautiful!
Personally, if you choose it, I would wear the Mikaella dress as is. I think it has enough going on to look complete, yet it is simple in an elegant way.
The priscilla of boston dress is also beautiful. I don't think the bolero they have looks quite right with the dress, so I probably wouldn't bother trying to have a bolero made. I LOVE the crystal buttons down the back with the bows. I think you could either add a crystal belt to it, or possibly just add a plain sash that matches with a bow tied in front. It just needs a little more interest at the waist, and then it would be perfect. It really depends what you can find to add to this dress, but I would just start trying various belts with it.
Good luck deciding! You will look gorgeous either way, so I say go with your gut! I would think one will eventually feel more right than the other.
well, i personally like the mikaella better, but i think your subconscious has already decided since you posted so many different pictures of the POB, lol. i voted to bling up the POB. i think a simpler design might be better for a formal yacht wedding anyway, and since you don't have the bolero, it would be WAYYYYYY easier to just accessorize it however you want i think. probably cheaper too. so that's my opinion. if it were me, i'd leave the bows as they are and add a belt that fastens in the back (instead of tying, so it doesn't compete with the bows), and maybe do a statement necklace.
Here are my thoughts:
Should I have a bolero made? I don't think so.
Should I add a giant crystal belt? which one? I don't think so. Both gowns have AMAZING lines and they flow so beautifully! As much as I love crystal sashes, I think wearing one would definitely take away from the gorgeous lines and details of both gowns, especially the Priscilla.
Should I add more bows? I think the Priscilla is perfect as it is, and anthing else that you try to add to the dress would detract from it.
Should I have a statement necklace? I vote YES for either gown. The right necklace would be stunning and would not detract from the gown.
How should I do my hair? I would definitely recommend that you wear it up, so it is not blowing all over the place in the wind while you're on the yacht.
Should i just stay with the Mikaella gown? I recommend that you make your decision based upon considering both gowns with NO additions to the dresses but with a statement necklace.
All of that said, I think the biggest question that you need to ask and answer for yourself is this: Which of these dresses will, if you do NOT choose it, will haunt you and make you terribly sad that did NOT wear it? In other words, you clearly could live with either of these dresses. Which one do you NOT want to live WITHOUT?
I hope this helps!
I love the Mikaella dress, it is very elegant and wow factor to me!
@cardus: EXACTLY! but I'm getting cold feet about getting rid of the Mikaella :X This photo is the yacht at night and I think the fabulous, high fashion, blinged out PoB gown would compliment nicely but I don't know since I can't exactly visualize the right belt & statment necklace to bring it all together :C
@AlliRae: Thank you for the insight! I didn't really think the bolero that comes with it was right but I do think it adds a lot of interest so I was looking into other off the shoulder boleros like this to lay over the plain bust:

What do you think? Is lace too sweet to mix with the crystal buttons? Cuz I LOVE those but am bummed they don't do a lot for the front (lol)
@Brielle: Thank you SO MUCH for being so thorough!
I thought a belt like the one Kate Middleton wore at her after party would be good but I don't want to take away from the lines... also where the boning in the bodice hits my hips sort of makes a line that I'd like to cover with a belt (you can sort of see it on the model as well which makes me feel better! lol)
What do you think about a belt like this:

Her dress is quite simple and I think the belt adds a lot! I also like the deep sweetheart (right now the neckline is sort of a modified sweetheart; kind of like a small rounded dip in the middle but very very subtle.)
What kind of statement necklace do you think?
I think you have a great point when you say what gown would I be bummed I DIDN'T wear and I honestly think it would be the PoB one... The $4500 fabric is so lush and the Mikaella looks great in the photo above but is not as high quality... more of a "sweet" feeling than the unbelievable feeling a wedding dress should give you.
I think I just love the different pieces that add to the Mikaella like the ruching and the flower and the feathers and the poof. I guess I need to bling up the PoB and add my own uniqueness to make a bridal ensemble I'm proud of...
Thank you all SO MUCH for your input!
You have no idea how helpful you've been already :D
If anyone could recommend me some accent pieces for the PoB I'd really appreciate it!
Has anyone ever added crystals or rhinestone trim to the bottom hem of their dress? Do you think that might be too much or would it add a nice touch of interest to the bottom? :]
POB. That dress is simply stunning on its own and I agree with PP about a statement necklace to really WOW your guests!
I found this on the net of Mikaella with a crystal sash!! Almost tempted me to keep my old dress bc I was gonna make it look like this!! It is kinda similar(plain ruching and satin) :))
I am wearing the Mikaella 1406, love the material, shape, and beautiful "AS IS". But I am adding a crystal sash. Here is another picture with crystal sash

Found similar Sash on Etsy.com

@sooner365: ooo the Mikaella with a sash is gorgeous! Fantastic idea!
Do you think a blingy sash would be too much on the Mikaella?
like should I remove the flower if I add the sash?
The best part about the Mikaella is that the ruching hides my troublesome pooch and avoids my biggest petpeeve about my midsection- I HATE seeing my bellybutton through satin and if I do, I feel like a whale... like worse than writing my weight on my forehead :C
@SamanthaLovesJames: OOOOO That sash is beautiful! I've seen some on etsy but there are seriously soooo many that I get a little lost slash annoyed. lol '
do you have a direct link to that one? It really is beautiful!
I LOVE the bolero but I'm not loving either dress that much. I'm not much of a fan of that cut. Can you get the bolero and wear it with a more flattering dress?
@KimmySumShuga: I could tell that you love the PoB more and really want to find a way to wear it. :)
PPs @sooner365: and @SamanthaLovesJames: have convinced me that a crystal sash looks fab with the Mikaella! Stunning -- and it does not take anything away from the gown.
My issue with a crystal sash with the PoB has to do with the other elements of the gown. However, after hearing your concerns about your tummy, navel, etc, I do understand and think you can wear a crystal sash with the PoB -- BUT you would have to remove the top bow. In fact, I highly recommend that you consider moving the top bow to a location about half way between the crystal sash and the bottom bow OR eight to 12 inches above the bottom bow. That will allow you to keep both bows while still providing a way for you to wear a crystal sash.
Some additional thoughts:
I love the off-the-shoulder, stretch-lace overlay you posted above. Gorgeous. Obviously, however, you could not pair that with a big statement necklace. Statement earrings, yes. Not sure about trying to pair that type of accessory WITH a crystal sash. I think if you do decide to wear a crystal sash, you shold look for a very delicate lacey shrug that only covers your arms and shoulders but not the front of the gown.
I love Mikaella dresses. I love POB dresses. However, the Mikaella is just so much more pretty than the POB, it's too plain in my opinion. I say remove the flower, add a blingy belt and a statement necklace and you're good to go!
@mrs_g.mck: such a predicament! I'll show you the 6 row rinestone belt I have now...
@Brielle: Okay now I dont know... I had my mom take pictures of me in all the dresses I'm on the fence about and she likes the Mikaella best as well as the poll here is saying.
I decided I should post photos of ME in the dresses cuz I'm no model and that will give a better idea~ here goes ladies...
be honest because I'm really struggling with this and need help! :O
Here's me in the Mikaella:
Here it is with a 6-row rhinestone belt I have (it would be sewn on so wouldn't have the pink ribbon):
belt at high hips aka natural waist=
belt at high waist:
oh and it also has this bolero:
the back:
and bolero with belt:
Here's the PoB:
Plain:
Back:
With 6 row rhinestone belt:
Side with belt:
back view with belt:
obviously I'd take the pink bow off and sew on JUST the rhinestones but is it enough?
and what do you all think?! I could lose like 10-15-20lbs for the PoB cuz my wedding is September 21, 2012 but I want to make sureee.
Pleeeeeeeease tell me your thoughts now that you see me in them!
Thank you ladies xoxox
omg, you look stunning with Mikaella "AS IS" without the sash.
@KimmySumShuga: Oh my gosh. I LOVE the Priscilla on you!!! Although the other dress is pretty, the Priscilla, to me, is SO much more regal and elegant. (As I noted, above, you'll definitely have to move or get rid of that top bow to wear the sash.)
I love the POB with the sash on you!! But I don't think you'll go wrong with either of them, they're both beautiful!
Agree with PP that the PoB is more elegant and regal, while the mikaella is a bit more fun. I'd personally go with the PoB.
I really like the PoB. It's so elegant, and I wouldn't add a sash or anything - I think it's perfect as it is. I would just wear it with a great necklace and a petticoat or hoop skirt to make sure the bottom of the dress stays flared out.
Oh wow thank you ladies so much for your kind words!
I love this positivity towards the PoB but I'm wondering about the interest from the front? And if I can lose enough hips/midsection to commit to the dress! But yes thefabric is soooo much more lush and the bling feels so special :)
Its making me so insecure that the poll is % slanted towards the Mikaella :\
The Mikaella is more comfortable right now but that's becauto its a size bigger. If I shrink myself the PoB might be more comfortable too...
The dress is a big deal because it will dictate how formal the decor & other aspects of the wedding will be...
PS my FI wants to wear navy as well as have it be a color for our wedding...
Whichever of the two you end up deciding, you will not go wrong, they're both beautiful.
@SamanthaLovesJames: Awe again too kind!
Thanks so much for your help... I think I WANT to like the PoB more but because it doesnt fit as well right now, its hard for me to commit... PLUS I'm pretty sure I'd want a new, thicker, more sparkly sash...
the Mikaella fits well now and would be much more comfortable on the day... I think that's why my mom said she liked it better. Its also very generous draping on my problem areas...
hmmmm... the poll is sort of changing but I'm not sure people can see the photos of ME right and center so I might make a new poll just to be clear. lol
you ladies have been so helpful and sweet!
You bring things to mind that I hadn't even thought about so thank you very much!
I think you're right about the poll. The results are skewed toward the first pics you posted as well as the wording in the poll.
Also, I love the idea of the navy as your bridesmaids' dresses. Navy blue is, obviously, so nautical, and would fit in perfectly with your yacht wedding.
I know you feel self conscious in the PoB, but, truly, there is no need for you to feel that way! You have an incredible figure! That gown, even now, does NOT look too tight on you, and it will definitely loosen up when you've had it on for awhile on your wedding day.
By the way, I have never been one to encourage someone to be a "two-dress" bride. However, since you already OWN both of these gowns, why don't you wear the PoB for your ceremony and most of your pics, and then switch into the Mikaella for the rest of your reception? That way you could enjoy BOTH gowns. Whatever sash you may choose would likely go perfectly with either gown. Few brides have the option of being able to wear two gowns on their big day, but, since you've already purchased them, why not enjoy them both?
@Brielle: awe thanks for the encouragement darlin... You are so sweet! I think I'm leaning towards the PoB as well because there seems to be a lot of Mikaella brides and I'm sort of one to be different... and I wouldn't mind having a goal to tone up anyway because if not for your wedding, then for when?!
Thanks for the two-dress suggestion as well! I actually have a confession to make about my "second dress" ideas too... My first ever dress purchase was this one:
cuz I loved the pockets & sweetheart neckline & back bow & blingy midsection but I think it makes me look bigger than I am and made me feel less grown up and fabulous like I've always wanted to feel on my wedding day...
SO I was thinking I would have it shortened into a sweet reception or after party dress because all the features I love would still be there and I could wear the pretty tulle underskirt and it would be playful and light for the afterparty...
So you see, although the poll slants to the Mikaella, I think my venue and vision for my wedding day makes me love the PoB more... I just need to get to the gym and get the winning belt/accessories to make it happen! :]
I'm more of a "less is more" girl anyway and I don't want the dress to be wearing ME.
You all have been amazingly helpful! Thank you for all your help xoxo
how tall are you if you don't mind me asking, dress's fall really nice.
@SamanthaLovesJames: Awe thanks! I'm 5'8" and I think in most of the pix I did a little tiptoe pose cuz it normally straightens out my posture better and even before I was engaged I fell inlove with the Badgley Mischka Lissa shoes in White so I've got those as well

I'll definitely be about 6' on my wedding day... which I don't mind by myself but FI is only about 6'1"-2" so he'd prefer me to be in a smaller heel so I'll probably wear the BM Lissa's for before and my photos and after party but my dad is about 5'10" and I dont want to tower over him down the isle as well so I'm on the hunt for a ceremony shoe, too ;]
I may be going against the grain a little here but I think that PoB dress is just incredibly gorgeous on you!!! It is classic. I don't think it needs a belt, bolero or any other added 'detail'....the beauty is in the simplicity. A classic, well fitted dress makes YOU shine all the more. Your figure also looks fantastic in it. The little button and bow details are all that the designer felt it needed....so I think it stands out exactly as it is.
Thats not to say that the other dress does not look great on you....you look as though any dress would look lovely on you.
I say don't add too much. Less is more.
@J-Bride: awe thank you! you are too kind!
I agree totally and think when you say "the beauty is in the simplicity" you're right on the money! I do think it needs some sort of interest at the front so maybe a necklace or a blingy brooch bouquet like this would achieve my desired "red carpet glam" look but I do also want to retain a "less is more" refinery too so thank you so much for your encouragement.

PS I am usually one to go against the grain as well so I'm gonna go workout and tone up for a few months and see if I can improve the look of the PoB on me.. if I can't the Mikaella will win and that will be best because I should want to LOOK the best on my day, not just be attached to an unflattering dress.
AKA I've got work to do~ lets see if I can make it happen!
i LOVE LOVE LOVE the priscilla! with more bling or a bolero! i LOVE the bolero pictured. but you couldnt go wrong with that dress in any way! and its pretty unique!
I am a bit biased since I am wearing a POB, but I just love the Priscilla dress!!! I think it looks so classy! Honestly, both of them look gorgeous on you. Whats stopping you from using both of the dresses on your big day?
@Ms.Ninja: hehe the PoB's are on another level aren't they?!
I wouldn't wear them both cuz I don't think the dresses really go well together... one is clearly more glamorous than the other and I think the PoB outshines the MIkaella in its refinement and fabric but the Mikaella fits me better because its a 10 and the PoB is an 8... ALSO the Mikaella has some nice features that look nice on me and the PoB needs something to complete the look so they are like different dress personalities and I think they would look odd at the same wedding, if that makes sense? lol
Did you get your PoB at a closing sale? I went up to Bev Hills like 4x over the course of the closing sales and got all my bridesmaids dresses and this one out of the platinum collection... I tried on a million but this was the only one that gave me a million dollar feeling for the $500 they were asking~ and I about fainted when I saw the original tag was $4375! I had to have it!
@vreelans: thank you thank you thank you! I tried to call around to all the PoBs that were closing to track down the bolero because obviously thats the way the ensemble was meant to be but they had all been purchased already so no luck
BUT I think the fact that its unique is a priceless feature that is actually increasingly important to me~ I just want to look good in it tho so thank you for the encouragement!
@KimmySumShuga: You are probably much more aware of your 'problem' areas than anyone looking at you on the big day or in the photos afterwards. For what it's worth I dont see any problems in either dress!! I chose a dress with a fitted slim portion over my stomach which I feel to be MY problem area & I hesitated for a while as I had tried another rouched one on that I felt hid my stomach better. NOBODY else in the salon could see what I saw and told me I was crazy not to get the dress I loved more over that. I'm so glad I went with it now....I'll do a few crunches before the wedding
.
I one hundred percent agree with some beautiful jewellery. When I said less is more and leave the dress classic I meant leave the DRESS as it is and add some gorgeous drop earrings and a beautiful veil/headpiece....you will look a million dollars!
@J-Bride: Thanks so much for sharing your story~ I think you're totally right & I shouldn't play into my insecurities and regret it. I should just take responsibility for myself & make it happen! I've got 9 months to do crunches & squats so I've decided I should go with the PoB & just get the fitness regime started!
Thank you for helping me believe in myself and my vision for my day.
Do you still happen to have the bolero??? I have been looking EVERYWHERE and my wedding is in a month.... Looking to buy soon... Please let me know.. VERY INTERESTED!!!!

Hi bees!
I have been through a lot with wedding dresses and have purchased 6 (YES SIX) different dresses all samples for less than retail but I have just been more and more confused each time... I just don't know what I want!
Anyway I'm between MIkaella 1406 and Priscilla of Boston PL396 w/o the bolero.
I like the Mikaella but feel there's something missing... like its not that WOWing.
I like the Priscilla of Boston and got an insane discount for buying it without the bolero (ONLY $500 regular price $4375 for the dress alone & $7975 w/ bolero) but it DEFINITELY needs a lot of front interest added because it is completely plain in front but I just love the crystal buttons all the way down the back and bow details under the tush & at the end.
Here's the youtube video of the PoB on the runway! Its gorgeousss...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIFEB5UrXcg
My question is~ do you have any suggestions on accessories?
Should I have a bolero made?
Should I add a giant crystal belt? which one?
Should I add more bows?
Should I have a statement necklace?
How should I do my hair?
Should i just stay with the Mikaella gown?
If it helps, our venue is a beautiful chic & modern 4 story yacht that will cruise Newport Harbor in a formal Friday party wedding :]
I'm really excited but need some guidance!
PLEEEEEASE HELP! :X
Thanks ladies & congrats!
