My FI and I were just in Kauai last year (we got engaged there!) and I loved it! We're more the quiet, laid back, secluded area vacationers, so I don't know how much help I can be. BUT, I would have loved to stay at the St. Regis in Princeville (amazingly beautiful!), but it's on the north side of the island which is MUCH quieter than anywhere else. If you want nightlife and more action, stay on the south side of the island (like Poipu). Hope this helps a bit.
It's hard to beat the Princeville. But if you want something a bit more moderate, the Marriott Resort and Beachclub is nice. We have someone staying there next week.
I was unimpressed with the Marriott. They were undergoing huge renovations last fall so it was noisy, obviously not really their fault, but I also found them to be very unaccomodating in regards to normal hotel expectations (for example, actually getting the type of room you book).

My FH and I are spending our last week of our honeymoon in Kaui and we can not decide on a hotel. We like the more upscale resorts w/ swim up bars, nightly entertainment, spa services, and beach access. Any suggestions?
