Is there any way you can negotiate a hotel block at one or two decent hotels?  I’d feel better traveling internationally if I knew the bride or groom recommended a few good hotels in safe areas.  You don’t have to manage anything, or pay anything.  All it does is give them an option of a decent hotel with a good price (they usually give discounts for blocks).

Personally, I wouldn’t use a Google Doc or anything to post my travel plans.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable posting to the googledoc unless I knew everyone else that was using it.  Would it just be immediate family, or are there also cousins aunts uncles etc on both sides?

I think it would be much more helpful for the bride and groom (or delegate this task to someone) to pick some trustworthy hotels and post those on your wedding website.  If you can reserve a block of rooms so people can stay together that would also be helpful.  In the US, blocks are reserved at no cost up to a certain point before the wedding.  There’s no extra work for you – guests are still in charge of their own reservations.
