I just realized that we might have a teensy-weensy problem… I’ll be graduating in December of this year with a degree in accounting, and would ideally be starting a new job at an auditing or accounting firm in January. Starting a new job and needing to take a week off for a wedding and short honeymoon can’t be easy for anyone, but our wedding date is April 9th (aka 6 short days before taxes are due!!). I don’t really want to work in the tax segment of the firm, but I would just assume that all CPA firms are ridiculously busy around this time and would either not hire me or not give me a week of vacation. I’m also worried that if I do something else in those 3 1/2 months (I don’t know, volunteer, wait tables, whatever), it will be seen as detrimental to my eligibility.
Any other accountant brides who are getting married or got married in April? How’d you manage it and were your co-workers/bosses alright with your time off?
