We found out that we’re having a girl last week. But after buying a few girlie things i’m starting to panic thinking that it could possibly be a boy. I’d be happy with either, but want to be prepared…
Anyone that’s on their second baby that found out this early & it was accurate? I worked with a lady that was told she was having a girl up until her last month of pregnancy, to find out that it was a boy. She had a really hard time with it.

We found out with our first that we were having a boy at 16 weeks (against Dr.’s orders at a 3D ultrasound) and my son is amazing!
ETA: You could clearly tell the sex with just the regular 2D, though.

I can’t say every time it will be 100%… but usually with a boy-it’s clear as day lol! Everyone I know that has had kids in the past 10-12 years had them 16-22 weeks and were spot on 🙂 Congratulations!

There is a blood test at 9 weeks that is 95% accurate.

@crayfish: Really!? I didn’t know that. Will doctors do it?

i do ultrasounds for a living and it’s never 100% accurate no matter how far along you are. I will say though that testicles can drop up to 24 weeks so i’d save your receipts.

I was told at 15 weeks that I was having a boy, and that I did.

I’ve heard that it’s more common to make the mistake of saying girl instead of boy. For obvious boy part reasons.

We just found out that we’re having a boy, and it was VERY obvious *ahem*.:)
ETA: I am 18 weeks today, my anatomy scan was last Friday

I think the accuracy is somewhere around 85% at 16 weeks, and it continues to improve with each passing week. Although like everything else, no one will 100% guarantee anything, including the sex of your butterbean. 🙂
FWIW, I had an elective u/s performed at 16 weeks (I am just now 18 weeks), and I was told at that time I was having a girl. It was pretty obvious – not a nub in sight! The following week I had an amnio peformed, and just got the final results back, confirming that butterbean is, in fact, a girl.
