Ask your OB. Mine just prescribed me something… which is upstairs and I’m too lazy to go look at what it’s called. I just started it today so I don’t know if it works, but I sure hope it does!

I have had really bad acne too, isn’t it great?! (note the sarcasm) my doc provided me with some spot treatment. Ask your OB because sometimes regular acne medicine isn’t safe for pregnant women.

I would suggest benzoyl peroxide for spot treatment, but I’m not totally sure if it is ok for pregnant women.  Tea tree oil is less harsh, and probably is ok.  You could give that a try- either with face wash or spot treatment.

A toothpaste without flouride, you can just dab it on the spot. πŸ™‚ Flouride is irritating to skin, so it could make acne worse.

I had it bad for the first half of the pregnancy, but it got better once my body adjusted to the change in hormones. I hated it, but didn’t get a prescription. I thought about it, but didn’t think it was so awful to use a drug for it. I had it really bad in high school and one particular summer in college, so maybe I’m just used to dealing with it. I hope it gets better. I would ask your ob for a script if it’s really bad.

Mine lasted until LO was about 5 months old. UGH!

I got it really bad on my upper back which I’ve never had before – that went away right after birth. But the facial breakouts stuck around πŸ™

I’m still losing quite a bit of hair. (He’s 7 mos old) Silly hormones!

I have had the WORST skin since I got pregnant. Nothing seems to work

Then I was listening to a Pregtastic podcast about “safe skincare” and a doctor said that benzoyl peroxide wasn’t safe.

All I have heard it to try to wash your face 2x a day with an oil-free cleaner. I have and nothing is working. I wonder if my skin is going to be like this the entire 10 months! πŸ™

My OB said benzoyl peroxide was safe so I used that (even though it has a history of being super irritating to my skin–but oddly wasn’t during pregnancy).  I was told to stay away from salicylic acid which is in lots of OTC treatments and was in my concealer.  Like others said, mine cleared up as the pregnancy went along but about 3 weeks post-delivery–UGH!  It’s awful.  Mine came back around the time the baby got baby acne.  We’re a pair.  πŸ™‚
