Has anyone done this? We are having a country wedding (in a little white church), and acoustic guitar just seems to suit us better than a piano or harp.
However, I’m unsure what songs I should use, any suggestions?

@eastcoast: My brother is going to play the guitar in our ceremony. We are only having him play the recessional. I was just youtubing songs we like and putting “solo guitar” in the search box. we are having him play “here comes the sun” by the beatles for the BMs and “I see the light” from tangled for when I go down the aisle.

- Wedding: May 2013 - Pavilion overlooking golf course scenery, reception at banquet hall
We had an acoustic guitarist at our ceremony, and it was my favorite feature 🙂 He played “Make You Feel My Love”, “Here Comes the Sun”, and “Brown Eyed Girl” for processional/bride/recessional, and some classical stuff (that I cannot remember right now) while guests were milling around for seats. He also played “Time in a Bottle” during our sand ceremony.

We had a friend sing and play accoustic guitar for the walk down the aisle, he did “Everlong” by the foo fighters

Youtube – I hadn’t thought of that! Thanks!
Awesome! Thank you so much, I don’t think anyone can not like the Beatles!
I better not mention the foo fighters to the SO or I’ll be walking down the aisle to the pretender haha 😉

- Wedding: October 2013 - Tybee Island, GA
I had a guitarist at my wedding.
He played EVERYTHING whle the guest and all was coming in and then when i walked down the aisle he played “I can’t help falling in love with you” and then when we were exiting he played “Here comes the sun” byt the beatles.
I loved it way better than an ipod or a cd;)

I’m doing this too! I have a classical/Spanish guitarist for the ceremony and cocktail hour. He also plays jazz and all different genres of music (totally random, but his rendition of “Smooth Operator” is amazing!!). I am so excited about it; it’s going to be so unique compared to the usual organist, pianist, etc.

My FI will be playing the guitar while the kids/ bridesmaids and dad and I walk up the aisle. We will have guitar on CD when guests are being seated and during the recessional.

@eastcoast: I am not married yet, nor seen it done in person. But it was beautiful in HIMYM!
I’d also take a good acustic guitar over a violin any time.
