Depending on your cell phone carrier, you can add an international package which will give you a discounted rate on calls, text, and data services while overseas. However, all phone are not compatible so you would need to check with your carrier.
yeah, call your carrier and ask them if you can add one month (I doubt they'd do just a week) of international services. If I remember correctly, not all phones can do this; some sim cards aren't advanced enough to handle the different international networks, so if you have a cheapo phone, be ready to be disappointed - but if your phone is nicer, it shouldn't be a problem.
Why don't you use Skype? It's a cheap alternative to adding extra services or paying for an extra rent-a-phone. You just have to be in a wireless area, but there are plenty you can find overseas!
If your phone has a SIM card, you can unlock and and purchase a UK one for use while there (sim cards are really inexpensive)
Apparnetly i can add a month, then PRORATE it. Yay, for $5 a day I can have my iphone. Now to see if the company will pay for it in lieu of that stupid rent-a-phone (which is REALLY pricey)
actually, the skype option is a good one too - I'm not sure the rates, but you can have them forward calls to your cell. Oh wait, then you'd pay roaming. NM.
$5 is really good if you're only overseas a week! Will those calling you have to pay an international connection fee or anything? I remember when I was in France there were all kinds of weird hidden costs for using American cell phones (but that was ... 6? years ago - something like that).
$5 per day is not much, but you can rent a phone for $1.50 per day, incoming calls free and all outgoing calls at 0.49 if you rent a cell phone. and you dont need a calling card or anything, is cheaper, i think, the webiste is www.phonerentalusa.com

I really really wanna take my iPhone to the UK Saturday-Thursday. Is there a way to have it activated for Europe for those 5 days?
Otherwise I have to get a company rent-a-phone.
I'd rather have mine =(. Does it work like that?
