I’m officially waiting!!!
He let it slip that he put 1/3 down to have the jeweler start making my ring. Apparently he got stressed out that its an Edwardian design (LOVE!!!) and was afraid it wouldn’t fit with a wedding band. So he blurted it out and asked me… And I happily showed him some contoured bands, wraps, etc so he’d know it’ll all be ok! 🙂
The best part? He remembered my grandparents and parents talking about their rings over dinner one night… The same jeweler made my grandparents rings, my parents rings, and gifted me and my sister both baby rings and rings at high school graduation that are basically minis of our momma’s e-ring with our birthstones. He and the jeweler came up with a design together that would reflect my family’s wedding rings combined with the style we liked. SO perfect! Eeee!

We’re building a house, and I know he wants to get married around the time the house is finished so we can move in together when its finished (and moving in together before we’re married is NOT an option due to the religious nature of his job and of my school) so I’m guessing it will be soon!

@Grizz: Religion can definitely be a catalyst for marriage, not to mention a great foundation. Must be exciting to know that the engagement (and marriage) is just around the corner! Yay!

I don’t know how you girls do it, knowing that he bought the ring, and its even worse to me when he actually has the ring but just hasn’t proposed yet! I would be pulling my hair out! I guess on the other hand you could be more relaxed and feel more secure knowing that he hasn’t taken that final step and actually put his money where his mouth is! Awesome news for you, I hope he doesn’t make you wait too long! :p

Update – He was opening the mail after work today and I knew he’d closed out a savings account to put the cash toward the ring and our house, and they’d be mailing him a cashiers check. He opened the envelope, got a big grin on his face, and goes “there’s your ring… I mean, my account closure went through”. Eeeee!!!! We’re going on vacation in a few weeks, or so I thought until he corrected me and told me it was only 17 days. And again with the huge smile. TRYING not to go crazy right now… and preparing myself to NOT be disappointed if he doesn’t!
