I think you should go for it. As long as you have the time, space, and resources to take care of a 4th dog I think you should! I think it sounds really exciting, but I’m a big animal lover.

I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and people look at me like I’m insane, but I love my babies.

If I had the space, i’d definitely have 4 dogs! As long as they could live primarily inside, I think it’s fine 🙂

There was a period of time when we had 4 dogs running around the house and people thought we were nuts. Really, once you start going over two, adding one more isn’t a huge difference: food and vet costs are the big costs, but if you can afford it and have the time/energy, go for it!

I think that as long as you have the space, love and your dogs enjoy each other there’s nothing wrong with having multiple dogs. You are home with them, you have acreage, they are loved and cared for. What more does a pup need? And for the record I love goldens too 🙂

Oh and just thought I’d add… Why is it nuts to have 4 dogs but not 4 kids!?

@TwilightBlue:  he’s a great pup. We’ve had three goldens in my family and he by far has the best personality

If you want another one, I’d love to suggest a golden retriever rescue program instead of a breeder. I have a friend who’s family rescues goldens, and it has been a huge blessing for them and the dogs. They live in SoCal, but I bet it wouldn’t be difficult to find a similar group in most regions! Since you already have so much experience with the dogs, have the time and space, and work from home, I think you could really do a wonderful thing by giving the love and discipline to a dog that needs it, and save a life in the process!

Absolutely go for it!  I just lost my 12 1/2 year old Golden boy to cancer on 01/11 and he had a memory foam dog bed too!  I’m a Golden lover as well, they are the best!

@TwilightBlue:  Adorable!  Go for it.  My town has a limit of four dogs, so I do know people who have that many and even more if they foster (with a kennel license).  So much easier when you are at home to train them daily rather than fitting it all into the 7 hours you are awake after a 9-5 type job.

I have one dog, and I’m dog sitting as we speak.  My girl is definitely a solo kind of girl.  She gets a little biotchy!
