Looking at the current offerings in bridal gowns, I’m struck that 90% are strapless!! I have nothing against the strapless look- I just don’t like wearing strapless bras and having to worry that something might shift as the partying progresses.
So what I’m wondering is: am I limited to getting a gown that was designed with something halter/strap/sleeve-like, or (since gowns are individually tailored) can I choose any gown and have something added for an extra fee? Does anyone have experience with this?

If you find a gown you like, you could always see if the designer could sell you some extra fabric and you could have a seamstress make you some sleeves. Another option would be to buy a cute little bolero.

Also, most wedding dresses have excellent boning/support built right in so a bra is not always needs. I wear a 34D and did not wear a bra under my strapless dress. (I also hate strapless bras!)

@zippylef: My SIL went the bolero way and it looked great. I’ve kind of got a crush on one of the cute boleros on BHLDN, but I’d rather take care of this dilemma from the start rather then fixing it half way. 🙂

You’re right almost all gowns are sleeveless. I found my dresm dress, of course strapless =) and I added David’s Bridal cap sleeves. They come in different lengths and colors, and they were around $50 I guess. They’re really pretty and look great with any gown.
