One thing that was important to me is that my wedding band ALWAYS be my wedding band. And the good news is- I love my wedding band.
But there have been a few times where I wish I just had a plain gold band- to either wear with my ering or alone.
I know some people will think I am stupid for even asking the question- but how many of you have added another wedding band after the wedding?
Maybe I should just get a gold band at our one year anniversary (even though we have only been married a month and that means I’d have to wait 10.5 months LOL)

if its what you want, do it!
i have two wedding bands and theyre both super sparkly so i got an inexpensive simple white gold band at walmart to swap them out with if i feel the need.
sometimes a girl just need options! haha

@MrsEME: I dont wear my set to work for a few reasons, so I wore a plain band for a while and then my husband surprised me with a more meaningful one for Christmas. I say you should get one!

@MrsEME: I am getting a diamond wedding band also (definitely not the norm where I am). I am also concerned that I will miss a plain band. But if I get one, I want it to be special and from FI so I wouldn’t mind wearing it in place of my wedding band. In my situation, I am thinking about asking FI to give me the plain band on our wedding day or honeymoon. Since you are already married, I think it would make a LOVELY anniversary present, especially for your first anniversary! I know you have a little while to wait, but this way you will have two special rings 🙂

We’re not even married yet, and we’ve already talked about how I’d love an anniversary band to even out my set (I’m also weird with parallellism, and it looks strange to me to have the wedding band on the top but nothing on the bottom, hahah).

Go for it!
I don’t see anything wrong in you wanting a simple gold band. I actually wanted another one of my bands to wear on the other side, but considering it was about $2200, I don’t think that’s happening anytime soon

I think a LOT of women do that! I wouldn’t think it was at all unusual! I’d ask for it for your first anniversary.

I’m having one on each side, but neither can be worn by themselves because it would look silly to have the band that goes with my ring worn alone. I’m going to get a tungsten ring (cheap in price but good in quality) plain to just wear if I don’t want to wear my ring to work or something sometimes (I’m a nurse).

I have a gold band with an engraving of flowers that I wear while walking the dogs. I got it for school since I won’t be able to wear my wedding set (RT program).

@linnylou_88: What about if I get it for Valentine’s Day?
I mean technically, we could get it any day, but I guess want it to be meaningful- if that makes sense.

@BrandNewBride: Valentine’s Day? I want it sooner!

Valentine’s Day could work. I got a plain band for our 1 year wedding anniversary, because I, too, wanted a plain band to wear sometimes. Really, though, I could have gotten it at any time; it’s not the occassion that makes it meaningful, to me, but it’s the fact my DH gave it to me that makes it special.

@MrsEME: sure! Get it as your vday gift! I knew I would want a plain and a sparkly so we planned it that way (and none of the rings match at all!).

@wrkbrk: We talked tonight and he asked if I ended up wanting one, will be do that for Valentine’s Day? And of course he will.
He’d never just get one without me because he knows I like what I like, and he wants me to be happy. I’d like to say- I’m not picky, but I am particular. And most of it has to do with comfort.
Maybe I will get our wedding date engraved on the inside of the gold band!
