Hey everyone. I bought my dress already for my August wedding. I purchased a slip for it already, but I want more. It doesn’t have enough volume. I was thinking of sewing some extra tulle into the slip. Does that sound like a horrible idea?It is a taffeta mermaid style dress, and looks amazing on my hourglass figure. The model in the picture doesn not do it any justice.
Here is the slip I bought. Which oddly enough isn’t in yet.
I am short. My dress fits me great! If I did add to the slip it wouldn’t make it too short. It would actually fit perfect. SO I’m not worried about that. Plus, it’s just the slip.
I just can’t find anything on this.

@sosewmama: Beautiful dress! I also used that fit and flare slip, and don’t think it would be too odd to sew an extra layer of tulle into it if you feel that it’s not giving you quite enough volume.

@sosewmama: Beware : If the length is perfect with the slip, adding extra volume will make it shorter 🙂 Only add extra volume if you have an extra 1.5-2 inches of length with the current slip.

@artsyfartsyweirdo: Oh trust me, the slip is 7-8 inches too big! It has to cgo under my breasts to fit! Which it is supposed to be at my waist. SO there is not an issue there. I’m only 5 feet tall, so as you can imagine, any dress will be too long. No worries.

@pengoala: Thanks! I tried on a cinderella dress but it made me look huge. But I still want the volume. I’m still waiting for my slip to come in!
