Hi, there! I am a marketing director for an inn in the central Adirondacks. The co-owner of the Inn, Diane Connerty - is away for a few weeks, but has been doing Adirondack-style weddings for 6 years and could offer some input....
Their website is http://northwoodsinnresort.com
and also
myadirondackwedding.com
Best of Luck!

I've been to Northwoods--it's nice! I wish we could get married in the ADKs--my fiance's family has a camp in Old Forge--but no one would travel that far. We have people coming from VA and also from other countries, so that was a no-go. Good luck planning!
Also looking for ADK posts! Surprised there's not more it's such a beautiful location.
We've just started planning (summer 2011) but have found a few possibilities through this website:
@legalalien:
we just started planning too. we are in the internet research phase; sending out a lot of emails and trying to get an idea of what venues will be in our price range. it seems like a lot of places don't want to give that info up until they get you to visit.
i did get a really comprehensive wedding planning guide from the Copperfield Inn in North Creek. i sent them an email and they sent a whole package in the mail. menus, prices and everything!
do you have any places in mind yet?
Oh I would love to see pictures of an Adirondack w
edding. We grew up going to our grandparents house in Big Moose and I always thought I would be married here:
@adrndk - Sounds like we're at the same stage with the emails and so on. The main issue we've run into is that we'd really like to do the wedding in August. Most places only do weddings in early summer or autumn (understandable but still disappointing :-/)
Not giving up yet though! Our favourite so far is the Woods Inn in Inlet.
The Copperfield Inn does look really nice and their website is actually well put together (seems to be unusual for the region!)
Good luck. Would love to hear how things work out.
@adrndack - How is the pricing for Copperfields?
I am currently living in NJ, but grew up in Essex County. It's going to be an ADK "destination" weekend wedidng for us. Right now we're looking at the Lodge on Echo Lake - in Warrensburg and Jimbos on the Point (Point O Pines) in Brant Lake.
I would love to hear more venue/reception inmput from other brides ;)
@TerraWellness: the pricing for Copperfield Inn is really reasonable (we're looking at under $100 a head w/ booze). i'm pretty impressed by their menu choices (as a vegetarian). we have friends getting married at Jimbo's next October and recently went to a wedding at Echo Lake. both are great venues, but too big for us. we're looking at approximately 60 guests.
@legalalien: the seasonal "black-outs" was a surprise to me also. luckily we're looking at a late October or November wedding.
we've also gotten a good response from the Boathouse at Cresthaven Lodges in Lake George and High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid...
@adrndack oooh thanks for the feed back on Copperfields! By looking at their lodging pricing, I assumed they would be more pricey. While I grew up in Essex County, more than 75% of our guests will be coming from out of town (Vermont, NJ, DE, MA and CA)...so it's basically going to be a destination type wedding.
It's also great to know they have vegetarian options. I wonder if they do vegan cuisine as a substantial amount of guests are vegetarian, vegan and/or gluten free. So hard to address everyone's eating issues!! LOL
thanks ;)
Our wedding was at the North Woods Inn in Old Forge and I would highly recommend it.
@beekeebear: I just saw photos from a photographers wedding from there and it was GORGEOUS!
Did anyone of you come across ADK weddings planned at a house or non-traditional venue? We are getting married in a TINY town in the Adirondacks and will need to do tent rental, etc. I want advice from other people about caterers and other companies. Anyone have any advice? I would GREATLY appreciate it.
thanks~
My bff got married at Silver Bay which is a YMCA facility on Lake George. It was gorgeous. They had the ceremony on this little peninsula that stuck out on the lake and the reception in the ballroom of the main hotel. So cute! I can get you pictures if you need them!
@proBM2008: Hey! Thanks for responding. Do you know if they used any vendors other than the YMCA facility? Florists? Caterers? All of the weddings in the ADK area seem to take place in Lake Placid and I need ideas/suggestions for vendors elsewhere. Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks again!
Having our wedding at North Woods, Just booked it this past weekend for Sep. 2012! So excited and need help with decorations from previous NW Brides! Please help! Thanks! I have so mnay questions, who did you use for hair, makeup, flowers, tent. so on!
@adrndack: I am getting married at Fort William Henry in Lake George. Our ceremony will be held outside overlooking the lake and the cocktail hour and reception will be inside in their tavern and ballroom. We have similar budgets and FWH was able to work with me. You would probably have to have a Friday evening wedding in order to book with FWH but that is what we are having and I'm totally cool with it. Originally I insisted on a Saturday evening but moving it to a Friday saved us a boat load of cash. If you do decide to check it out, don't let their online prices fool you. They WILL work with your budget. Good luck!
Hello! The Adirondacks is the most beautiful place to get married. I just got married here in June 2010. The mountains, the lakes, the fresh air! I am the wedding coordinator for the Whiteface Club & Resort in Lake Placid (www.whitefaceclubresort.com) and we have the most beautiful location with the best adirondack views. Our reception room is not like the typical banquet hall like the other properties have in the area. Our pricing is very competitive, if not lower than other venues and we have more to offer. Please contact me if you would like any further information! ~Kristin Parker
Two other places to consider are McCauley Mountain Ski Lodge http://www.mccauleyny.com/ (very affortable, but it's a little too small for us) and the Arts Center in Old Forge, which is opening in January http://www.artscenteroldforge.org/ It's GORGEOUS, and hopefully where we'll be having our reception :)
Hi! I too am also concidering an ADK wedding.. Thought some of these ideas could help...
Oh and Great Camp Sagamore does weddings as well I think...
White Pine Camp Too! I have an entire excell sheet of ideas. Theses are just a few. Oh and I got some great ideas from Adirondack Wedding Head Quarters -
Let me know if you would like more ideas on locations.

If you want an inexpensive but nice rustic wedding venue, there is a sweet little town outside of Lake Placid New York called Wilmington. There is a place there called Whiteface cabins and suites. It's a group of rustic cabins that is located on the AuSable River. You can rent all 5 rentals for about $1000. for a weekend. There are picnic tables and the rentals have small kitchens. The town beach is very close and there is a volleyball net and playground there as well as a covered pavillion and access to swimming, fishing and boating. This area is close to Santas Workshop and Whiteface mountain so there is lots of family style things to do nearby. We rented this for my nephews wedding and we love it!
In case it helps anyone I've been planning my wedding for the ADKs region and I just found this magazine http://adirondack-weddings.com/ Apparently it's brand-new this year but it has so many beautiful pictures and ideas in it... and some wedding pros i didn't even know about!
Forest Lake Camp - forestlakecamp.com is now holding weddings and can accomodate 200. They are a full service camp where you can have guests use the facilities all weekend and can handle either an outdoor or indoor reception. You can see what they offer at http://forestlakecamp.com/rentingflc.aspx and contact them through the website. Absolutely gorgeous location with private lake and wonderful views. Very reasonably priced.
There is a beautiful private lodge in the western edge of the Adirondacks called Otter Creek Lodge. If you are planning a small wedding, this is a perfect location.
I am getting married at the Whiteface Club and Resort in September, although the location is beautiful, they are not very accommodating. I asked several months ago about bringing in my own cake and they said its not a problem. Now the cake is booked and I checked back with WFC to confirm everything, they tell me they have no room for it in the cooler. And insisting that it is ok for it to be left out. It is a butter cream cake that HAS to be refrigerated until a few hours before serving, they wont touch it at all, not to move it nothing.. Which is COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. I STRONGLY suggest to check into EVERYTHING x2 before you do anything with them.

Sorry, there are no users yet.
huh...kinda surprised by the lack of adirondack area posts...or maybe they are someplace else?
"upstate" new york sure encompasses a LARGE portion of NYS!
anywho...i'm looking for some ideas; especially regarding venues in the eastern adirondacks. we're definitely on a total wedding budget of $10,000 or less...
we're pretty outdoor-sy but are open to all suggestions. thanks!
