Ladies (Prefferbly Michigan ladies!) My FI is adopted by his aunt and uncle. LONG LONG story short he doesnt speak to them anymore. I cant find either one of our birth certificates but I'm mostly worried about his. We are getting marred in 25 days and still need to apply for a marriage license.

Can we get another one for him (maybe me too if I cant find it)? Any other adopted ladies or adopted FI out there????????

Do you know what hospital he was born at? You can usually request another (though they might make you pay)

I'm not from Michigan, but I just requested a copy of my birth certificate (I live in Ohio) and I just had to know what county I was born in and the names of the people on the birth certificate.  Unfortunately it took about 6-8 weeks to arrive in the mail... Is there a state website that you can look at (perhaps with a phone number you can call)?

I have to think that you can supplement other document for the birth certificate. I'm a naturalized citizne but I was born in China so there's no such thing as a birth certificate. Have you tried calling your local clerk and seeing if other ID will get you the same "points" as a birth certificate?

We live in Michigan and we just went to our courthouse (Flint) and filled out the application and gave the lady our ID and Soc Sec card and she was able to give it to us right there.  The application is small and it does ask about adoption.  The courthouse should absolutely have a copy of it.  It cost us 15 dollars.  Good Luck.

It's saying you can use Birth Certificate OR US Passport

OMG 3M, You have no idea what a relief it is to read that!!!! I read somewhere online that Michigan requires a Birth Certificate for a marriage license. My house is turned upside down right now looking for that stupid thing! LOL! I'm actually looking for his "Adopted Birth certificate". He was 10 when he was adopted. I have no idea where his real Birth certificate is. So I'm hoping this still works out!
