Do you know what hospital he was born at? You can usually request another (though they might make you pay)

I’m not from Michigan, but I just requested a copy of my birth certificate (I live in Ohio) and I just had to know what county I was born in and the names of the people on the birth certificate.  Unfortunately it took about 6-8 weeks to arrive in the mail… Is there a state website that you can look at (perhaps with a phone number you can call)?

I have to think that you can supplement other document for the birth certificate. I’m a naturalized citizne but I was born in China so there’s no such thing as a birth certificate. Have you tried calling your local clerk and seeing if other ID will get you the same “points” as a birth certificate?

We live in Michigan and we just went to our courthouse (Flint) and filled out the application and gave the lady our ID and Soc Sec card and she was able to give it to us right there.  The application is small and it does ask about adoption.  The courthouse should absolutely have a copy of it.  It cost us 15 dollars.  Good Luck.
