Following up from this post: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/update-parents-adopting-again-
It’s finally happening!!! My parents got their adoption date! They are leaving on September 14 and will be back on September 28. They’re taking my youngest sister with them (the one that’s also adopted, who is 8 years old) because leaving her here isn’t something she is emotionally ready for and we aren’t sure that would work. My 15 year old brother will be living with DH and I for those 2 weeks and middle brother is in college. 🙂 Good grief, my family is weird. 🙂 I love it.
They’ve re-opened their website that documents their journey if anyone is interested!
SO EXCITED! Oldest of five. Dang. 😉

Wow! Congratulations! That is so amazing.
I have a million questions. FI and I have talked about the possibility of adopting in the future.
May I ask where she is from?
And why your parents choose to adopt? (Just curious for why some people do it!)

@futuremrsk18: Sure thing. 🙂
She is from China, as is my youngest sister. I know a lot of people get weird about adopting internationally BUT my mother works in adoption and felt it could be a conflict of interest to adopt locally. Also, she isn’t a super big fan of open adoptions (just personally, for her and my step-dad.)
She was adopted herself, which was her main reason for adopting….the first time. This time it was purely because we got a call about a 13 year old that was about to age out of foster care (aka be put on the streets) and she, among the rest of us, didn’t like that idea.
My family is pretty awesomely complicated, but short backstory is that my mom already had 3 bio children (me and brothers) but she and my step-dad didn’t have any kids together (age and she had endo like me and had a hysterectomy). Plus she had ALWAYS wanted to adopt, in a way to “pay it back” that she got such an awesome set of parents when she was adopted.

@the boss of you: Sure 🙂 The haven’t added to it for this time around yet, so the info you’ll see is from 2008. They’ll start adding soon for this one. 🙂
