    Hey All!

Has anyone had a wedding or been to a wedding at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden NJ? Thinking of going to check it out but would love any feedback or pictures (besides the ones on the website) !

    Thanks in advance!

I did a quick Google search for "wedding camdeb aquarium" and this are a few of the hits that came up with pictures:

I went to a wedding there last summer. It was absolutely wonderful! As a guest, I have not much of an idea as to costs or how easy they were to work with, but I can attest that the food was great and the atmosphere even better. It was so surreal and romantic! I would say definitely worth checking out!

Oh one last tip though - if you can check what sort of events are going on in the area the night of your wedding. There was a Dave Matthew's concert going on in Camden that night and traffic was hell!

@ rosychicklet Thanks for the links, very cool.

I actually just booked my wedding at the Aquarium.  Without having been to a reception there myself, my inital impression is; AWESOME!  One of my BMs is a wedding coordinator in the area and she says that vendors have nothing but good things to say about it.  It's a little pricey about 125$/head, but it includes a lot.  You should go for a visit and see for yourself!

I'm getting married there on Sept 19th. The place is wonderful and the people there are so easy to work with. Yes a little price, but completely worth it for the atmosphere. Send me a message if you want more info!

I am also looking at the Aquarium and have heard it's wonderful but they nickle and dime you to death.  volleybride, did that $125 number include everything including the rental fee?  Did you have it in the Currents Ballroom or in the Aquarium itself?

I have heard that they want a fee for the facilities rental, then one for the ceremony then insurance on top of the other fees.

Any insight would be appreciated.  Thanks.

@avort Yes, it does include the rental fee!  Unfortunately, they have a 125 person minimum for Currents ballroom so our small wedding can't be held there.  for more info, go to http://currentsballroom.com/

They have rental info and pricing info available there.

The link specifically to the package info can be found here:  http://currentsballroom.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=6KBHCJ0bBRk=&tabid=849

It really is beautiful!  I wish they would let us use it on a Saturday with our little wedding!

I don't have any information for you, but this is a fabulous idea! I went to college in NJ for Marine Sciences and have had many behind the scenes tours at Adventure Aquarium. Seeing their research facilities in the basement first hand and being in the shark room during feeding time, I can just say if I had a wedding there that would be the icing on the cake to my Adventure Aquarium experience over the years! Wonderful idea ladies and I hope your weddings are AMAZING!

I'm just having the reception there, if I wanted my ceremony there I'd probably have to pay for the extra time. The 125$ price included space rental, along with tables and chairs and stuff and catering and open bar.

I choose the Currents Ballroom, not the actual aquarium (but 2 of the walls are the shark tank, so that's enough fish for me!).

They do make you purchase insurance but some other country clubs I looked at did to, so that wasn't too big of a deal, and it's not too pricey.

They just had a bridal show that was awesome, if you were thinking about having your wedding/reception there I hope you were able to go!

    thanks for all the help!

we are just now pre planning our wedding.  my engagement ring has been picked out and now just waiting.

we're pre planners -so you see even tho we wait some time we like to plan ahead.

not sure about the aquarium still - but still a thought.  worried about the neighbooring camden.

where did everyone have their guests stay at? hotel distance and quality is super important to us!

    thanks :)

@nicholemarie: You'll be fine in that area of Camden.  You can easily find hotels/places to stay outside of Camden in great locations.

I do know that proms are held there and a lot of people enjoy it.

    Good luck to you! :)

I worked in Camden teaching at an elementary school for sevearl years.  We would walk to the Aquarium from the school.  As long as you stay by the waterfront you should not have a problem.  The area is policed well and the security at the facility is fantastic.  Just make sure you have guests park at the Aquarium and not out on their own.

Make sure you do a tour first.  I looked at the Aquarium early on in wedding planning and I found parts of it to be a little smelly.  They recently added hippos to the Aquarium and I think that's why.  There are definitely areas that are completely fine and don't smell, but we were thinking of having the cocktail hour throughout the building and I was worried that people would lose their appetites.  Overall though, it does look pretty cool.

I was thinking about having my wedding at the aquarium.  However, they don't cook the food there, they don't have a kitchen.  (The food gets cold fast), they use ARAMARk (school food ew).  They never return my phone calls or emails, suppose I had a question about my wedding that isn't cheap and includes nothing!  The cake, centerpieces, bar, drinks, hor duerves, nothing included!  No bridal suite, so where are you getting changed?

The most important things people remember about a wedding is the food and music and the aquarium lacks the food!  All my friends said the food is so bad!

The pictures do turn out lovely there, but there is more to a wedding than a bunch a picture with fish.

i highly recommend having a wedding at a more beautiful venue!

    @avort:

Yes they do nickle and dime you for everything.  Nothing is included there!  Plus they don't even cook the food there, that is what the manager told me.  I want fresh hot food, not cold aramark food.
