Hello Bees! I am very early in my pregnancy (6 weeks, confirmed via dating scan) and will be 15 weeks at my wedding (Hopefully- if everything goes well!!). FI and I are so excited- but I am much more worried about looking my best at my wedding now. Obviously, taking care of my little bean baby is more important, but do you ladies have any advice to:
1) safely control excessive weight gain in the first trimester? I exercise moderately daily and eat well already
2) fight bloat in my dress? It’s a dropped waist. I understand I will be showing some- but if I can safely banish the bloat for my wedding day I would be very happy!
3) control my skin? I have broken out significantly more since becoming pregnant. I stopped using my current sacyllic acid acne wash because it is unknown if it is safe or not. Any tips other tHan staying hydrated to control my pregnancy acne?

I’ve actually lots weight in the first trimester due to morning sickness, I woudnt worry about putting additional on. Bloat I have no idea how to deal with. But at 15 weeks if your fit and its your first you may not be showing too much anyway. However…by then you should be in the blooming phase, hormones under control and no more acne.
Congratulations and good luck.

I think exercising like normal and eating healthy are all you can do. If you happen to gain weight you might not have much control over it. But I doubt you will gain more than 5 lbs if you do gain weight.
I’m not sure there is much to do about bloat except the usual things- drink lots of water, avoid sodium, low carb. Exercise helps. There are herbs and other things but I wouldn’t do any of that while pregnant. I personally couldn’t have gone low carb while pregnant (um carbs and fat were all I could stand to eat lol) but people/pregnancies are different.
Does your dress have a corset back? If it has that I don’t think you’d need to worry at all- something like 5 lbs isn’t a huge deal.

shellybee13: Some of the side effects are hard to control. Make sure you continue eating properly, washing your face, and drink LOTS of water. You will need much more water now that you’re pregnant, and it will help keep the bloating down.

I was doing an exercise video with weights the other day and the instructor said, we might gain weight in our breasts, belly, butt…but at least we can try to control our arms! So..you could focus on that too, light weights in your routine. As long as your fitness isn’t super high impact, keep it up. I also read that in the beginning you should focus on eating 2 times healthier, not 2 times more…

FrenchNewlyWed: that is a great saying, thank you! i am trying to eat the same amount of calories as before (during first tri only) but eat more nutrient dense food, so I get more out of each calorie!

shellybee13: for a while you could try limiting wheat intake to maybe 1 slice of toast per day and avoid pasta and avoid sugar(except in fruits) to combat bloat. 0%fat white yoghurt and berries as a healthy snack instead of a ‘real’ dessert. You soon won’t miss those desserts at all.
Drink lots of water.
For bad skin I swear by Bare Minerals skincare range and their make-up powder. Even if you break out, this stuff covers everything.

shellybee13: I don’t know if it’s safe but you can also use acne wash benzoyl peroxide and/or zinc (zinc soap really helps me with my acne!)
