I am going on Saturday to a tailor that I found on Yelp to get a quote for my dress alterations.
I’ll ask my Maid/Matron of Honor to join me, but if she’s not available I’ll just go alone. Any advice on what to pay attention to? Or what would be a reasonable price? My dress is pretty simple – Wtoo Mimi. http://madamebridal.com/wtoo-15828-mimi.html?___store=default
I know that it needs: remove one layer of tulle from under skirt, take in bust a couple of inches, add bustle, shorten train. I also want to see if she can add one of the built in bras that helps keep the dress up.

@houstonwhodat: I think I would make sure that the seamstress/tailor is reputable. I am assuming that if you found them on Yelp that they have reviews for their business. I would also go to more than one tailor to do some price comparison in regards to cost. I think it would be a good idea to write down what you want to tell them beforehand in regards to alterations on your dress to make sure that you tell them everything you need done so you don’t forget anything. But I would definitely go to more than one seamstress/tailor before making a final decision on where you are going to get the alterations done at. Never hurts to comparison shop! 🙂
