During my recent job search, I’ve discovered that pretty much every single website requires you to register with them in order to look for and/or apply for jobs they list.
This of course requires you setting up a username and password, uploading your resume, setting preferences, filling out a questionnaire with a billion questions . . . and when you actually apply for a job you have to do the SAME thing over again!
Then that website sends you 800 emails a day with “job matches” that usually don’t even fall close to what you’re looking for. (ie: I’m looking for admin work in Pittsburgh and I was getting “job alerts” for nursing positions on Phoenix. Like, really?!?!?!)
So my question is: which job sites, in your experience, are the most legitimate, reliable, and effective? I have no problem filling out info. if it’s going to help me. But I don’t want to waste my time spending hours filling in my name, address, phone number, and references 100X if all I’m going to get is junk mail. (I even had 2 websites that kept calling me 10 times a day wanting me to take an over-the-phone survey from people who barely spoke English to “help me” find work. Yeah, right).
I’m on indeed.com, glassdoor.com, and simplyhired.com. Does anyone have any good websites they can recommend or warnings about sites to stay away from?
NOTE: Stay away from jobhat.com! They are one of the obnoxious ones!
