Lately I’ve seen a lot of ladies being discouraged because they can’t afford a $10k+ wedding. The fact of the matter is, there’s so many options these days that you don’t need to spend anywhere near that much to have your dream day!
I’d (and I’m sure lots of other ladies) would love to see how you ladies made your wedding the perfect day, without spending an arm and a leg! Bonus points for pictures!

I’ll start off! We wound up eloping, but I saved a LOT of money by DIYing our stationary. We also were going to do a dessert buffet during an afternoon reception which was saving us a few thousand dollars, easy.
Here’s our elopement announcements that I designed and printed.

We saved by doing lots of DIY stuff!
My BMs did their own hair and makeup and I did my own makeup.
I bought packages of invitations and programs and printed them myself:
I spent months before the wedding shopping at thrift stores and garage sales for vintage center piece items:
And instead of spending a ton on a florist, I bought flowers at a craft store (for half price) and made mine and my BMs bouquets:
I had fun doing things myself and it was worth it to save so much money!

DIY everything!! I did my own flowers, made my own jewelry and BM’s, baked my own sweet n salty buffet, did all the stationary (invites, programs, menus, cards, etc), made my own cardbox, caketopper, groom’s gift, giftboxes, etc….my list is super long but I can post it if you really want to know. Here’s a few pics.

- Wedding: July 2014 - Barn
@housebee: That cake topper is out of this world ah-mazing! How did you do that?

@TattooedChick23: Thanks ladies 🙂 I made the cake topper out of polymer clay (the parasol is made out of cardstock and riboon). I wish I would’ve taken more pics while I was making it, but it was actually way easier than you might think. I did manage to post a tutorial a while back for an UP themed cake topper for another bride: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/up-themed-cake-topper-tutorial-pic-heavy#axzz2Ykd6VdFH

-Beach wedding: we could do it for dirt cheap, but there is a company that will be decorating/set up/tear down at the site/act as a day-of coordinator for $1200. SO loves this layout and will not budge 😉
-Doing my own hair and makeup (part time MUA, so it’s a no-brainer)
-Making all of our cakes
-Food and Reception: going with a backyard BBQ reception. Literally, in a family members decked-out yard, poolside (no rental). Our food for 20 people *might* be $500, leaving plenty to spend on alcohol for our guests
-Save-the-Dates and Invites for $50 or less, period. Everyone throws them away, no sense spending a fortune.
-My dress is actually a prom dress and will only be $600 *with* alterations
-Flowers: we are only getting a bouquet and pieces for the family to wear. All will be silk from http://www.plumeriasweddingflowerboutique.com/ If we decide to do any real flowers for tables, we’ll just grab some at the grocery. Our estimated flower budget is $300 or less, total.
Total, we are looking at less than $7k 🙂

Budgeting has made our day more about us 🙂
We are having a tiny wedding away from home but a few hours drive because its a special place to us as a couple. 4guests plus friend taking photos. We are getting married then shopping for a picnic in the local stone circle. Then an evening meal which is our thank you to our guests. After that a honeymoon is cornwall in a surf lodge and back for a party 8days later.
Im wearing my favourt outfit with a new jacket and amazing sales shoes and charity shop finds necklace as a hair piece. FI is wearing his kilt, a shirt i am sewing for him and convers style shoes. The lack of suits and dress has ment our clothing budget is around £200 all in.
We used postcards all hand written as invites, diyed lego cake toppers for our home made pies rather then wedding cake. Table decs are diy o&x chalk boards with home grown flowers in recycled tins. We are only laying on cakes, jelly and a sweet buffet (£31) that i have brought on offer for past few months.
All in all the wedding is about £800-900 including legal paper work and 3course meal for 6 by an amazing tv chief .proof that its always worth an ask, not that we knew who we were asking as we dont have tv 🙂
Lego cake toper of us….My ourfit……diy tradis card box…..home grown table flowers, retro ladybird books and diyed chalk boards which a few of the table decs……100 invite postcards for £10…..sweets for buffet ready to go in vintage and recyled glass jars …… diyed paper decs just some of the decs
All mix and match unique and fun

My dress! I’m only wearing it once, and I have no clue what the difference is between the lace on my dress and the lace on a 5K+ gown!! Found my beauty at David’s Bridal for $549.
