I'm the opposite. We had a friend tape our wedding and I still haven't watched it a year later.
Well I have watched it now because I just got it. I will definitely not spend my time watching this. BUT, I would have loved to see a video of my parents on their wedding day, and I'm excited about the legacy for our future children!
@egb: I've read similar advice from several brides who are glad they got their special day captured on film, and I'm very happy I'll be able to enjoy the same experience. I bet the whole day will go by in a happy teary blur, so I'll rely on that video to relive the moments again and again. How nice of your dad to do that for you!
I wasn't going to do videography, but after hearing SO many Bees talk about how they regretted not having it, or LOVED having it to watch, I've contacted our photographer to get his company under contract for their amazing cinematography as well. I'm so excited I decided to take the leap and do it!
I had to convince my FI to get a videographer and I'm so excited we are having one! I know he'll tell me I'm right when it's all said and done! ;)
We've watched the raw footage (almost 4 hours) and the final video (45 min) already (a few weeks after the honeymoon) and we both LOVE them. SO much is captured in video, that still pictures do not show. We both knew we wanted a videographer right from the beginning. I love watching the ceremony/vows and the dancing..all of it. It's awesome! I can't wait to show our future kids someday too! :)

Whether it's a professional videographer, or amateur, it's really worth it to have those moments to watch again.
My parents filmed our wedding; now my dad's a videographer and he didn't want to be working... I never really cared about it so I told him it was fine but my mom insisted on filming... So, she did, and my dad decided to take over on the day of my wedding... Now he edited everything with music and unveiled the video at a family gathering yesterday as a surprise.
It was so moving, and I'm so happy that our kids will get to see their parents' wedding!
Definitely worth it to have some "live" images...
just a word from a bride who didn't think it mattered much. I'm so glad my mom insisted.
