I would start TTC two or three months before moving out. But if you get pregnant now, and it takes a year to build your new house… AAH! I would be TERRIFIED of having a newborn while living in my parent’s basement!

@miss_melissa:  My sister got pregnant in the exact situation. Fortunately the house was finished a couple months before the baby arrived. You have no idea how long it will take to conceive, it could happen quickly or take awhile. Do you know when construction will begin? Are your parents ok with a newborn in the house? I think having a baby while living with parents may not be bad at all, having them around to help if they are willing would be really nice. Whatever you decide, good luck!

ETA: My brother and his wife had a baby and moved back IN with her parents to save money. They are living in their finished basement and it’s working well. The mom loves having them around, she has unlimited time with her granddaughter.

@miss_melissa:  go for it!  you already have a house in the works so you wont be stuck in your parent’s basement forever!

i’d say go for it. even if you conceived *now* the baby wouldnt be born until what…may? and most people don’t conceive the first month even with charting. So most likely you have a 6 month cushion of time or more for the house to get finished

@miss_melissa: I couldn’t imagine not getting those first few months figuring stuff out with just me and DH and the baby!

And then moving with a newborn… Ugh! What a nightmare!
