My wedding is in 52 days. I have just learned my wedding planner will not assist with any decor like centerpieces etc unless I let her style the wedding as well. Her styling fee is 1950. As my wedding planner she is charging 2200. I know everything should be clear early on but I think as my wedding planner helping me with decor should be part of the job. my wedding is 80 people being held at one place. I have not gotten much savings from using her in the last 3 months I owe her half her fee of 2200. I am not sure what to do bc I will feel stupid to have her there as my wedding planner but me and my family are running around putting up decor type things on wedding day. I’m thinking I need to discontinue the relationship and hire a day of coordinator who is willing to assist. I have found my own vendors etc. She has been advice and vendors she chose off her list were more expensive compared to others so I didn’t choose them. The wedding is so close I’m stressed because I thought I could depend on her to assist with decor set up but I see it not the case.

@kimhaw: is it too late to hire a new wedding planner? Maybe a day of coordinator? That’s what I would do. It will cost way less than paying your current planner to do something that shold already be part of her job. This wedding planner sounds like a real piece of work. You shouldn’t have to pay extra for set up and centerpiece placement. You are the bride and should be able to enjoy the day with your family. A good wedding planner would go above and beyond to help make your wedding day the day of your dreams—- and not leave you hanging like this.

My fiancee is saying just go ahead an hire a DOC and move on to get this done. Im not expecting anyone to do free work but I think its crazy that she is not even going to assist with decor because being a “stylist” is seprate from her being a wedding planner bc when I hired her she didnt make it sound that way. Her price does includes some flower and centerpieces Im sure she used recycles so I think the prices is way up there.

@kimhaw: If you owe her half her fee for the planning now, see if you can find another wedding planner whois willing to do everything and at a decent price? You might be able to cut your losses and not lose too much. $4,000 for everything sounds like a lot with her, but I’m not sure of prices! Good luck 🙂

It is one thing to actually design an arrangment VS hanging, placing, etc centerpieces or decor. But if the planner is just waiting around for vendors, marking off the checklist, what else is she doing with her time? Lend helping hand> nothing like going the extra mile.

Oh my gosh girl I literally just hit my forehead with my palm and said…yup she’s got you on this. I feel like I should just put it out there and say that I am in the wedding industry. First of all, in my professional opinion you should not pay the $1950 and I’m pretty floored that this wasn’t clearly articulated verbally by your planner and backed up in the contract. What you need is a fabulous stylist friend, think who do you have that you can call on in a pinch? This is set up this is not design planning and implementation. I just did a quick search and there is a gal by the name of Shawna Marie who does event styling in the DFW area and per her website it says she charges $75 an hour. Her business is Event Styling By Shawna Marie. Do some research, jump on the phone, YOU CAN DO THIS.
Just so the mods don’t come after me, this isn’t me…as you can see my name is Phebe! lol.
Goodluck girl, let us know what we all can do here. I know it seems crazy but sometimes you have to trust that there are wonderful vendors out there who do just this kind of thing.
