Ok so I have a wedding band dilemma.
I would like to get a band engraved with my fingerprint as a surprise for my FH, I’ve attached a picture.
I live in an isolated place but often come back to Vancouver to visit my family. I have been talking with a custom engraver/goldsmith through email and once over the phone.
He keeps missing details and asking me the same questions. I read some reviews that say he is an older man with a passion for custom work but isn’t so great with technology or customer service. But when he gave me the final price for a YELLOW gold ring when I’ve told him so many times I want white gold, it gave me a really bad feeling.
He said the ring would cost $1800 after taxes. I was shocked at the price.
I know a ring that my FH loves in at peoples for $449.
I contacted another engraver and asked them if I bring in an existing ring can they engrave the fingerprint on the inside. They said yes and it would cost about $350.
When I asked the older engraver he said no, he has to make the ring to put the fingerprint inside.
What should I do? I’m surprised one says that it’s possible and the other says it’s not.
Go with the older engraver or buy my own and go with the other guys?
