This past summer I bought a 0.45ct princess cut solitaire, VVS1 clarity, G colour, excellent cut from ebay. It was a steal. I bought it initially to wear myself, but have since decided to sell it and put the money towards an upcoming family vacation.
When I first got the ring, I took it to a local jeweler to confirm the specs were accurate, and the stone was genuine. It was. I have some paperwork from a jeweler in New York who appraised the stone for $2250.00 in 2011. I had it cleaned, polished and the rhodium replated.
Now that I’ve decided to sell it, I’m a bit overwhelmed. Originally a friend of mine offered to buy it, but decided at the last minute he would go another route. I’ve had it posted on kijiji and craigslist for the last month without receiving any serious offers.
I’ve thought about selling it again on ebay, or perhaps even diamondbistro, butI’m hesitant because originally I just wanted to sell it locally here in Canada. I’m honestly not sure how much to even ask for it. When I posted the ad on craigslist and kijiji, I originally was asking $1200 or best offer, but now I’m wondering if I’m asking too much and that’s why I haven’t had much serious interest?
Bees, I need your help. If you were in my position, what would you do to sell this ring? Do you think I just need to be more patient? Am I asking too much for it?
Any and all advice would be very much appreciated. I’ll add a few pics of the ring as well 🙂
