After talking to my fiancee-to-be about ring taste, we discovered she has some odd preferences:
– She doesn’t want a natural diamond
– She wants the center stone to be kind of bourbon colored, like this:<br />
So acceptable stones we talked about: moissanite, sapphire (or other semi-precious gemstones), lab-created diamonds.
She didn’t give me much guidance on the setting except that she likes side stones, so my thought is to have a local shop replace the small white diamonds in a setting wite white moissanite, and then provide them with a sapphire that I get – currently looking at Montana Sapphire’s on etsy.
This is a rendering that my local shop provided me with:
I just feel like I should run this plan by others before I pull the trigger to make sure I am not missing anything obvious. Thanks for looking!

I agree with pp, the pic on the right is stunning.

It sounds like she gave you enough Guidance. I would love to be surprised with that gorgeous thing on the right. Otherwise, I’ll take it, lol.

I think both versions are nice, but I like the simpler look of the one to the left. That said, I don’t like really ornate jewellery for everyday wear, so YMMV.

michgroom: Another vote for the ring on the right here! I love coloured stones in three stone settings, it just makes it pop! and the extra diamonds down the band bake for a great addition. Its a lovely setting 🙂

michgroom: I agree with Laululintu: as I’m not into lots of stones. That being said, they are both very lovely and I am sure she would love either.

I’d go for the ring on the right… just double check that the band can be made to accommodate moissanites. Some accent diamonds are 1.15 but the smallest moissy is 1.3

I think they are gorgeous. The only concern I would have is keeping the split, between where the rong wraps on the finger and where the stone will be set, clean. Other than that it is gorgeous.

Beautiful ring choices! This etsy shop I follow has some amazing bourbon colored rings too

I think they are both awesome and unique. I love it when the guys get on here. It’s so sweet to hear how much thought some of y’all put into this. Please update us and let us know which one you choose and share some pictures of the finished product if you get a chance later on. 🙂

That’s gorgeous! I second what the previous poster said about the size of the moissanite… Make sure it’s doable.
My favorite is the one on the right – but I would make sure they can do the little stones with moissys or that you know what drives her preference for “no diamonds”. I assume you asked, but my boyfriend was not aware that my stone preferences extended to the little guys as well.
