I’m a patiently waiting Bee here who has fallen in love with this Board! I visit multiple times a day, my SO catches me looking at it and gets grumpy sometimes haha.
I need opinions on coloured gemstones and whether they age well, i.e. would a coloured gemstone ring look good on a 50 year old for example. Do they have the timeless look? I am in no way an outstanding person, I mostly love the classic look, but I do like things to be a bit special and different. I have strong ethics towards animal, environment and human cruelty and for that reason would prefer not to have a diamond as my main stone in an engagement ring when the time comes. My SO knows I’m pretty fussy with rings and knows I want to custom make one together, so hopefully that happens! For my own reasons I don’t want a Moissanite.
I originally came across Morganite which I fell in love with the colour, but I have decided against it because I am clumsy and don’t want to take my e-ring off too much. For that reason I am looking into Sapphire. I thought I could get a peach sapphire similar to the Morganite colour, but I’ve also stumbled across lavender and pale blue. See pics below!
My question is, will these colours look good for many years to come? Will I regret not getting the classic look with a white sapphire? My friend recently got engaged and her ring was STUNNING, to the point where I was a bit peeved because coincidentally (I haven’t shared my ideas with anyone) her design was EXACTLY what I’ve been planning on creating, only that hers was a white diamond, hehe!
I ask if I’m crazy because is it normal for me to be researching rings so in depth when we are several months, maybe a year, away from engagement!?
This Portuguese cut lavender sapphire I love.
Pale yellow, pale blue, and the portuguese cut lavender sapphires.
The next few photos are examples of the style ring I love. I’m still deciding if I should get a plain band or pave band!
What are your thoughts Bees? Do you have a white or coloured gem? Do you love it? Do you have a plain or pave band for your halo e-ring? And most of all, let me see your rings! 🙂
