This is my first post on here and I am new to this site so bare with me.
Okay, heres the scoop- I got engaged in December (yay!!!) and went dress shopping right away (January). I went to ONE shop, tried on a total of 5 dresses and bought the 3RD one I tried on! I had never been wedding dress shopping before and never put one on before that day. The crazy part is I went in knowing I wanted a white, strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline and even told the lady thats what i was looking for. I’m not sure why but she brought back this dress for me to try and it is ivory, has one strap and no sweetheart neckline but I tried it on anyway. Right away I just knew that it was the one I wanted and I kept going back to it after trying on 2 more. Two big things helped me make my final decision. 1) The dress was the “sample dress” that was in the store for brides to try on. So it was the ONLY ONE they had and it was the perfect size. Also, It had been marked down 50% because it was no longer available to order. 2) I could leave there with the dress, that day!! The dress in is perfect condition. It doesn’t look like it has even been put on…no makeup stains, no dirt on the train, rips…nothing! So i was sold and bought it right away!! I am usually an impulse buyer and find something else I like better later so I was afraid that would happen here, but it hasn’t and I am now 3 months away from my wedding and I still love the dress! Yay! =)
Now for the debate. When i bought the dress i asked the lady helping me if she thought it could be altered to a sweetheart neck. She pinned it a little to give me an idea of what it looked like and it looked great!! I took the dress to my seamstress and i mentioned the sweetheart neck to her. She pinned it back and said she could do it but it wouldn’t be as extreme as i wanted. Meaning it wouldn’t go down to a V as much as i would like. I’m still hoping she can get it close to what i like but i’m afraid if it doesn’t work then i would have rather kept it the way it was.
Here is my dress:
As you can see my pearls hang over the dress so i need it altered lower either way so that it doesn’t look tacky with my pearls.
This is what i would really like it to look like:
What are your thoughts? Do you think it is possible? And do you think i should chance it?
