- Wedding: October 2011
Hi fellow Bees!
I’m just now starting to get into the Weddingbee boards, and I’m glad to be here. I really could use some supportive arm squeezes about my color choices…I just keep second guessing myself.
We’re getting married October 1st, and it will most likely be in the morning (like a 10am church ceremony, heavy hors d’ouevres reception until about 3 PM). Both my Fiance and I like the idea of navy, grey, and cranberry. Here’s the thought: my BMs will all wear navy dresses of their own choice, and I have given them a color swatch to match but not specified anything other than around knee-length and fairly conservative. Frankly, I’d rather have them all feel comfortable in a dress they had the budget for than be PERFECTLY matching. We’ll have the groomsmen in grey suits (more of a mid-charcoal type color, not light grey but not nearly black, if that makes sense), and are still working on ties–maybe red and navy striped.
So that leaves cranberry, our accent color. I figure that navy and grey needed a pop of color. We STILL haven’t come to a consensus on what “cranberry” looks like. We’re trying to avoid a “red, white and blue” feel to the wedding, so flowers are a big concern of mine. I think the goal color is a dark red, but something with no pink to it, as my Fiance doesn’t like pink at all. But it shouldn’t be too dark of a red, or we’ll look like a funeral.
Here’s where I could use some help with these colors: 1. How do we make the groom stand out with his attire? Maybe a navy/white striped tie, since his groomsmen will be in red/navy ties?
2. What do I do for flowers? I really want my bouquet to be dark red, but I don’t know how to make it distinguished from my BM’s bouquets, which I’d also like to be red…I just need flower help in general.
What do you girls think? I’ve scoured inspiration boards and I’m just not coming up with as much as I’d like…is navy, grey, and dark red all that weird?? Or am I just second-guessing myself?
Any input would be so wonderful!
