so my fiance and i recently got engaged. after 10 years being together YAY!!. and now were trying to plan our wedding and the hardest part is finding a venue. not just any venue but an afforable venue. we are trying to be on budget if not under of 5000. we are having a party of 120-150 ppl. if i had to go smaller i could do 80-100 ppl. everything else like the flowers and small details are going to be done by myself and of course the bridal party. im trying to have my wedding in ny the westchester area. if i have to go to the NJ or Ct area so be it or further into NY then thats ok. so brides or grooms please if you have any suggestions please let me know. i really do appericate any insight and adivce.

Not from that area, but I might put the location in the title (I believe some locations have separate boards). You will get a lot more hits and useful comments that way.

for that budget, i would suggest a state or local park and having a place like panera or other sandwich place cater.
i’m sorry but $5000 for 150 people isn’t going to get you much and i’d rather you spend that money on food for your guests than anything else.

ckarencs: $5000 for a wedding in NJ, CT or NY is hard for 150 people.
What you can do is have the ceremony at either a park or chuch (whatever you prefer), and then just book a dinner or lunch reception at a restaurant BUT DONT tell them its a wedding. Once a restuarants hears wedding, they “up” the price. If they ask whats the occassion, just say no occassion, just a get together with family
I know a bride that did this and it worked. They couldn’t say a thing bc everything was paid for.
I would suggest decreasing your guest list bc if you go that route, you might have an issue getting a restaurant to fit 150. You might want to consider the 80-100 guest list
