I am posting because I ran into significant issues with my room blocks. A friend told me a bit too late about the idea of vacation rentals. For her bridal shower, a friend of hers rented out a house with a few rooms for her entire bridal party. She said it worked out great. I am about to throw a party and am thinking about trying this. Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with a home rental for this kind of event? Has anyone used airbnb.com? Does anyone have any other ideas for getting multiple hotel rooms in the city for under $100 a night?

@Jinlinsin: I haven’t rented a vacation rental for a wedding, but some friends and I did this one year for Coachella. It actually worked about to be around $100-$110 per room in the house, and not everyone had their own private bathroom. It was still fun, but definitely not relaxing.

My MOH and friends are doing this for my bachelorette party in Savannah. Apparently it’s a historic Victorian home with modern amenities (including a hot tub). It’s like $100pp for Fri-Mon Memorial Day weekend.
Good luck with your room blocks…out wedding is in Center City and damn are those hotel rooms expensive!

My maid of honor is renting a condo in Philly the weekend of our wedding. I can’t personally vouch for it, but she went through http://www.vrbo.com (Vacation Rentals by Owner)

I’ve had positive experiences with using AirBnB and VRBO for my own vacation purposes.
