You could try PMing mrs.stiletto, her husband is a chicago based photog I believe!
Yep - Mr. S is a photographer and he loves working with WB readers :) Send me a PM if you'd like more info!
Yup, Mr. S is my photographer! He's definitely one of the more affordable photogs in Chicago (and I searched for-ev-er). Can't wait for him to shoot the wedding and hopefully the UK reception!
Yes! Our engagement photographer did an amazing job. You should check her photos out on my blog:
http://proseccoandlemonade.blogspot.com/2009/07/engagement-photos.html
There's a link to her site on there too. Good luck!
I am so excited about our photographer, Caitlin Hazelton of http://www.hazeltonphoto.com/ She is amazing and includes a ton of stuff with her packages. She photographed my best friend's wedding and her engagment photos and when I saw her work, I immediately knew we'd have to book her!
We hired Peter Coombs after seeing the pics he took for a wedding from a friend on Facebook (ahh the world of technology). He's awesome, and I am SO excited for him to photograph our wedding. www.petercoombs.com
A friend of mine is extremely talented & starting out in the wedding business as well. He does photography &/or videography:
Clary Pheiffer Photography. She is amazing!! www.claryphoto.com.
She's based out of St. Louis, but she travels to Chicago.
I definately recommend my photographer. She did an amazing job. It's a husband/wife team, you get two photographers, all day.

When I looked for photographers, I did a TON of research, even created an excel spreadsheet comparing prices vs. quality...and settled on Anna. Check her out.
I recommend Jennifer Wiley, http://www.jwileyphotography.com/. Jennifer has a lovely way about her where she can make feel at ease and smile though your facial muscles are aching.
Good luck in finding your photog!
We're using Carol and Tiem from 847Media.com. We JUST got our engagement shots taken (talk about procrastination, I'm getting married next weekend) and are swooning over them because neither of us are photogenic at all and we LOVE so many of them. On our budget, to get not one, but TWO photographers all day long - seriously, unbelievable.
You can see a few of our pics on my (very ignored until recently) blog!

Good luck!

I just booked http://www.kevinmonahanphotography.com/ and couldn't be more thrilled. They're based out of Indiana but were willing to come to Chicago.
We are going with Andre Vospette - http://www.andrevospette.com/ - and couldn't be happier. He's a former newpaper photographer (most recently Chicago Tribune), plus has almost 10 years of experience doing photography on his own. He did our enagement pictures and will be shooting our wedding with his wife. Amazing, beautiful, photojournalism-style pictures, really fair prices plus he is such a nice guy who puts you completely at ease. Like nomerstoo I did a ton of research, and I am completely happy.
Andre's fantastic! (and affordble!)
I'm using Brandy Swartz of Brandy Swartz Photography. She just moved to Pontiac and she is shooting my wedding in Morris. She has a flat rate of $2,000 that includes travel, 10 hours of shooting, unlimited photos, and my favorite part...You get the disc of all your proofs with a letter of her signing off so you can do what you want with them. And that happens as soon as she is done processing them. Not a year+ later.
She did my sister's senior pictures and was great. She just did our engagement pictures and I'm waiting for them to be done.
The only downside, she is on her own, so you'll have to check date availabilities.
There are some great, and amazing photogs out there in Chicago!!! I am so blessed to have a permanent address in such great city.
After a long search, I decided to go with Ian Villaceran. He is just starting to rebuild his portfolio after a couple of years away attending to his first born. Here's a link to his previous website (http://ianvillaceran.bigfolioblog.com/month/may08).
He was absolute sweetheart to take pictures with. My husband is a bit camera shy and he totally put him at ease and let us just have fun. (BTW, he was also incredibly AFFORDABLE!!!) One unique feature is that he exclusively shoots with film. YES, films! No digital snaps. As much as I was glad to support the film art, I was a bit weary about this in the beginning - we've gotten so used to the convenience and immediate gratification for digital photos, I was a bit worried...what if the film gets over-exposed? What if it's out of focus?
In the end though, I was very happy with the results. (He had uploaded the proofs within 24 hrs!) I also appreciated that he had this conviction for film art and that he was fully aware of the fact that he couldn't mess up. :)
We have the pictures of lifetime that we will treasure forever and I just want to give GREAT KUDOS, TWO THUMBS UP to Ian.
Here're some teaser pics before I have time to upload more. For my hubby's privacy, I purposely chose the ones where you can't really see his face. ;)
Odd...I just posted a review on my photog and some pics, but it didn't take...something about a "moderator" will review? I haven't seen this before on WB...has anyone experienced this? hm...
Carri - Your post was flagged for human review... I just cleared it and it should appear now. :-)
Thanks, Mr. Bee! However, my attachments didn't come through...Just so you know. I'll likely start a new post with our pics! :)
BTW, I also have to give a shout out to Josh from Obviouschild Productions (Mrs. Quiche's friend), whose work I've gotten to know during my search for a photographer. He was by far the most enthusiastic and visionary photographer I encountered. I will be watching out for his future work!
Loved Peter Coombs - he did our engagement shots and wedding and trash the dress back in 2007 and in 2008, he did our belly photos when we were expecting our firstborn. Now, we're getting ready to book him for a family photo session!
<span style="font-family: tahoma, verdana; font-size: 13px; font-style: italic;">carri38707: I just saw that Ian is having a contest for free photography...can't beat free ladies!
Only use Ian Villaceran at your own risk. My sister used him for her wedding and she NEVER GOT HER PRINTS! He had promised her a book and never gave it to her, despite constant emails. It took him forever to just produce the digital copies and when they were received, many of the pictures were out of focus and the color looked as if it had been batch edited in a rush. As a photographer myself, I can say there is no way his fantastic camera could produce such awkwardly colored photos when used correctly--that had to have occurred during editing or due to poor camera work. Many of the pictures were blurred (such as her coming down the isle!!) and had an orange cast, suggesting that the settings on the camera were being used incorrectly.
Really, really unhappy with the results. In response, he continued to list out excuses that became more and more unbelievable until my sister and mom just gave up. That is not a professional at all, and if you want to be absolutely sure that you will 1) get high-quality pictures and 2) actually HOLD THEM in your two hands, find someone else.
