I am a newly engaged bride and am starting my search for venues. We do not plan to get married until Sept of 2013, but I wanted to get a jump start on the venue search. I would prefer something historic, but am faced with the difficulties of rental fees on top of catering and alcohol prices. I am slowly warming up to the idea of banquet halls (especially within hotels as most of our guests are coming from out of town) but they are not my first choice.
I am posting because I am hoping that some of you bees out there might know of a few fantastic venues that are also affordable. We are hoping to have a small wedding, under 100 people. I am hoping to spend less then $60 per person on food, alcohol and rental fees. Is this even possible?

@linsoid: I’m getting married at the WAC (women’s athletic club) on N. Michigan Avenue. It’s priced by the hour – and those prices will vary depending on what time your wedding is. I can’t remember the exact amoutnts, but I do know that it works out as cheaper than the standard 6k for six hours that everywhere else seems to be charging. They do all their own catering – and they have the tables and chairs on site as well, so they don’t need to be rented out.
I think it might be worth you checking out – good luck finding somewhere!

@Irish Terrier: I am also looking for a cheaper venue in fall of 2013. I really like the WAC. Are you, or somone you know, a member of WAC? Or were you able to rent the venue being a non member?
