We went with Mitchell from Music Masters. He seems great and was very afforable. Knows what he is doing but not overly involved.
Looking for the same thing. Someone under $800. Has anyone heard of anyone this cheap?
@RayRayFurious: yea try googling simply elegant weddings. His rate was under 600 but he was already booked for our date :(. I also saw some great reviews for him on weddingbee and the knot.

I'm in NY but we're likely going with a DJ who is NJ-based. If you're still looking check them out! DJ Productions - I was quoted $800 for the 4 hour reception (MC, DJ, basic lighting, guest give aways, and a photo slide show thingy). There are also a bunch of upgrades available.

Hello bees,
Still on the look out for a DJ for our June 2012 wedding. Reached out to a few companies but some are booked for our date already (simply elegant is already booked!). Any suggestions? Looking for someone under $1000 who will let us customize or at least influence the playlist and won't be overly involved in the reception.
