I haven’t really seen anything under $1000… although my budget isn’t much more than that.  I’m trying to stay under $1500 and the one I ended up loving I tried on at Ritche’s in Toronto where it was listed as $1655 but found i could order it in Barrie for $1400.  So don’t be afraid to try on samples in TO that are a bit pricier, but then see if you can order them elsewhere cheaper.

Ritche’s had a lot of dresses around $1000-1500.  I also found Windsor Bridal near Yorkdale Mall had a TON of dresses.   When I went, they were having a huge sale, like 80% off or something ridiculous like that, but it was ONLY the samples that were on sale.

I also found a shop online that I thought about going to but haven’t been yet – Amanda-Lina’s.  They carry a lot of designers and they have a clearance section where they have good prices.  For example, Sophia Tolli’s dress called “Marielena” is a super gorgeous dress and I tried it on at a shop for $1400 and they have it there on sale for $899.

Never be afraid to ask if a store will sell you their sample too, then you might get a big discount

Oh there were a few places I went to in Brampton just off Steele street near the 400, there’s a plaza with like 10 bridal salons in it.  I found them not so great, and the one shop I went into (I can’t remember the name now)  I described what I was looking for and I guess she misunderstood the silhouette I was after, and she said something like “Well obviously you’re not seriously shopping, you’re just here for fun.  Which is fine, but you don’t have to lie to me, because you’ve lied to me about the kind of dress you want.  Don’t worry, I’m here all day, just be honest with me.” My jaw hit the floor… seriously?  Because you misunderstood the volume of skirt I want, I’m not seriously shopping and you can now be rude to me?  Whatever.

Don’t go to brampton.  Just rule them out lol.

I live in Vancouver so I didn’t go to the store so I can’t say how good it actually is, but If I was in Toronto I would have looked there first

@Starshine32:  I got my dress for $977 with taxes and my budget was $1000! The place I choose gives alterations for free if you buy a regular priced dress (not sale dresses) The place is called Beashawn Bridal in Brampton and I’m very happy with my dress. I’m actaully going this weekend for my alterations 🙂

@missballi0414:  I’d never heard of that place before!  What an amazing idea.  If my dress wasn’t a 2013, I’d go there and see if they had it but their site says they don’t care the current year’s dresses…

Maybe I’ll donate my dress there after if I can part with it….. my nana passed away from cancer, and I would love to help if I could

@Starshine32:  Definitely check out the Bride’s Project! They have an unbelievable selection at half the cost of what you would pay brand new. Plus your money goes to a good cause, so it’s truly a win-win.

Also, David’s Bridal has come to Canada and there’s a great store in Scarborough. The prices are only slightly more expensive than you would find in Buffalo, which makes it worth it to buy the dress close to home rather than pay for gas/duty.

I wouldn’t rule out David’s bridal.

You can also check Kijiji, I’ve seen new dresses being sold as well as used but gently used.

My budget was $1200 and in the end I got a dress on sale for $1100.  I went to Windsor bridal on Orfus- that was my first stop.  It was a bit overwhelming…very very large selection!  Definitely were lots of dresses under my budget.  We also went to Davids bridal- wasn’t the biggest fan.  The dresses were very nice but you had to pick from a catalogue which was hard.  I wouldnt rule it out though.

My third stop (we did this in a one weekend trip) was Beckers and that’s where I ended up getting my dress.  The dresses didn’t have price tags on them but I made it very clear what my budget was and our consultant was very nice and found lots of dresses for me to try on.  By far the best service I received!

When I was planning out where to go and booking appointments, I just made sure the store knew my budget.  Some were very open and said I wouldn’t have many to try on, which is fine.

I bought my dress in Brampton @ sara’ s fashions (or something lik that) it was $500 on sale. It’s on queen st. West of the 410.(near the public library). There’s about 4 bridal stores there. I’ve heard really good things about 2 of them.

I’ve been perusing BestForBride.com for my dress. I think they have a few locations.
