    Hi all!

I am getting married in August 2012 and have fallen in love with The Metropolitan Building. We already put our names down for the date but are still looking for an affordable caterer - which seems impossible! For any of you that have seen the space, you know its raw and comes with nothing. We got a quote from a caterer our friends used who got married there last month and for a vegetarian non alcoholic wedding (we love meat!) it was over $18,000! We cant afford that in the least bit.

Anyone know of a great caterer who can work with $65 a head? I have no idea what we would do for linens and such. HELP!

PS. we are still open to other ideas. Im thinking of checking out the Desmond Tutu Center and the Dumbo Loft.

$65 is a tall order if you're looking for that cost to include a seated dinner and alcohol.  Even in New Orleans, $65 is a pretty reasonable price.  Most NYC caterers start at $125/head.

How many people are you looking to host?

We dont drink so no alcohol and we're thinking of having 70-80 people. I know, i've looked at quotes from other people. I think we might just go with a restaurant.

Have you contacted Real Food Catering? Their prices were significantly more reasonable than others we reached out to (and the food and service were impeccable).

For $65/person you should consider doing heavy hors d'oeuvres or something along those lines, rather than a sit-down dinner.

    Hey all!

Major updates! We actaully are going with Liberty Hall at the Ace Hotel. We've been in contact with them for weeks now and although I wasnt completely sold on the space, the food is catered from "The Breslin" next door. We tried the food last night and couldnt believe how great it was. This seems to be the perfect fit for us and the price is GREAT!
