I live in Orange County and am getting married in Montecito (Santa Barbara, CA).

Does anyone have any real feedback about carteres located in Santa Barbara that are affordable? Everything up there seems VERY pricey.

Any suggestions?

Also, my fiance owns a furniture store in San Juan Capistrano and we are hoping to find some vendors that would be interested in doing trade....DJ, Hair/Make-up, Videography, rentals, etc.

Nothing particularly wedding related, but one thing I would recommend as a suggestion for guests looking for something to do in Santa Barbara if they have spare time is go whale watching on The Condor Express: http://condorcruises.com/

We went there for a vacation summer before last and it was honestly one of the best experiences of my life- the staff was fantastic, we did a half day cruise and saw a dozen humpback whales really, really close up (early June) and were in the middle of several thousand dolphins feeding. It cost around $75 a couple of years ago, and was more than worth it.

*sigh* Santa Barbara prices...just a few dollars more to everything! I am in the process of planning our wedding, so if I come across some tips I'll be sure to post them

I'm planning my own wedding in Santa Barbara and learned that Ventura County vendors are less expensive and more cost effective. Since Ventura is only about a 30-45 minute drive to Santa Barbara, it's definitely worth the savings without compromising quality for a dj, rentals, etc Check out this Ventura County wedding resource at http://www.weddingcelebrations.com.
