- Wedding: September 2013
I’m posting this because I went insane trying to find a place that was affordable to have a wedding. I couldn’t justify the costs and it made me so mad that places charged so much for a wedding and so much less for similar events (I felt like I was being sucked into a wedding industry that is over-priced). We are getting married twice, so I couldn’t justify spending a lot of money on this wedding as our second wedding is in England with his family.
A bit of info:
Location: Sayersbrook Bison Ranch in Potosi, Missouri (about an hour and half from St. Louis)
Cost: 750 for a full day rental.
Catering: Self-cater, use them, or bring in your own cater. There is a big grilling area, stove and oven, 2 big fridges, and a lot of other things you can use to self-cater. No fee if you don’t use them. I think it was $20 pp to use them as it is bison meat.
Alcohol: 5 dollar corkage fee for wines if you want to bring your own (we went to Sam’s and bought the 1.5 Liter bottles) and must pay $25 an hour for bartender if you want alcohol. They can also supply the drinks, but it can’t be a cash bar.
Capacity: I can’t really remember but probably can hold 130 comfortably? We had 60 at ours. There is plenty of room on the upper dock and then there is a big strip running the length of entire dock with more picnic tables and then there are the four tables with umbrellas. They do allow you to remove their tables and bring in rentals, but I thought it looked great the way it was. There is a fee to have their tables removed, but I don’t remember the cost.
Features: Big, multi-level dock on the lake. Directly next to it is an outdoor ampitheater which we used for the ceremony. Has a built-in firepit next to upper-level dock (where we had the dance floor). The firepit has a moat. A MOAT.
I don’t have many pictures showcasing the venue, but hopefully these shots do better than their website.
Here is the ceremony site:
Here is “The Doorway to Your Dreams” to one of 3 lower docks that shoots off the pavillion.
Here is the fountain in the lake, which is in front of the middle lower dock:
Here is a small glimps of the lights lit up at night that go around the dock and the fountain lit:
Here is another picture of the reception area:
