@sadie99: Thank you for asking the question I had!
@mink: Thank you for the response!
I have not gone to check out dresses yet. I am not in that stage of planning yet but I have heard of ChurchStreet Bridal in Lynchburg VA. They get designer dress donated and they price them for $ much less. Google them.
Hee Hee. I'm the one who found Church Street last summer and started posting pictures here. It's definitely worth a trip to Lynchburg!
I would go to a few traditional, full service salons to get a sense of the silhouettes you like before going.
I Do I Do Wedding Gowns in Gaithersburg, MD sells new and consignment dresses.
If you're looking for a designer gown, my personal advice would be to look for the dress locally but buy it outside of DC. The dress I bought was $700 more (plus tax) in DC than where I bought it (outside the city). I was able to negotiate the price of my dress and also have an additional % knocked off equivalent to tax so it was 'technically' tax free. Like the cost of living, things are just more expensive when you buy there.
It you aren't too picky I would check out St. Anthony's Bridal. Its a small non profit organization that is dedicated to providing weddings for women with low budgets. They sale dresses for $150 + tax. It is in the same building as Dogtopia in Rockville/Bethesda near White flint mall. The place is like a small warehouse.. This is not your typical bridal shop experience.
Does anyone have any suggestions for places to go for dresses under <1000 dollars? I looked on Fabulous Frocks facebook page and it says their dresses start at $1000.
Anyone have any suggestions for places with dresses around $750?
I bought my dress at this place - http://www.marylandgowns.com/ - in Camp Springs, MD (across the river from Old Town). It is in a weird location - in a strip mall, above a Gospel church, but they have a great selection of dresses and I give their customer service 5 stars. I actually found my dress at a different salon (in California), but ordered it through this shop because I was so pleased with my experience shopping there.

Hey folks, I am looking for a bridal shop in the DC area wherein I can get an affordable wedding dress. Please let me know if you know of any.
