Tell the company to stop all contact with you and to produce documentation showing a legal debt - these are your rights under the law. If they continue to contact you, you have the right to sue them, but just the threat of a lawsuit will probably get them of your back.
My mom got an AFNI bill from Verizon too. It was an account I had 2 and a half years ago, under my mothers name and address. I know the account is up to date.
My mom just called verizon and they told her "AFNI owns the records, and we can not give you any information"
WTF???
Just be careful what information you give this company over the phone. I also got a call from them stating my name, and the guy was like, "Is your SSN XXX-XX-XXXX?" I said no, and he asked me to repeat my SSN. I told him that I never told him what it was to begin with, and he obviously has the wrong person. They use certain tactics to poke and prod you into telling them your address or your SSN.
It's great that you making people aware!

Sorry, there are no users yet.
So a couple of months ago, I got a notice from a collection agency saying that I owed Verizon some money. Well, knowing I am never late on my bill, I called Verizon to see what was up and they told me I don't owe anything and my account is up to date. (the long story is that we changed our services in July and I am a little paranoid that Verizon messed up our account). I keep getting these notices, so I finally called the company directly and the person I spoke too was pretty b*tchy and fed me some bs about money rolling into another account, blah blah blah. Anyway, I do some interweb research and find that several people have had the same issues with this same company and they are basically fishing for info to steal your identity.
I just complained to the FTC and the BBB. Legal Bees, are there any other outlets I can use? I want these people out of business!!!!
Thanks!!
